The EMEA Environmental Team seeks an experienced Environmental Engineer to provide environmental oversight for data center construction projects across the EMEA Region. This individual will work closely with the Global Construction Program Lead to develop and implement program requirements, conduct risk assessments, and ensure environmental compliance throughout the construction lifecycle from design through to Facilities Handover. Key job responsibilities • Construction Environmental Oversight Provide on-site assessment and oversight of construction environmental risks for AWS data center projects in the EMEA region. Complete Construction Environmental Risk Forms during pre-design to identify high-risk aspects. Conduct environmental inspections using standardized checklists at AWS permitted/owned sites during pre-PFHO construction. Monitor General Contractor performance with permit conditions, Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and environmental regulations. Review and approve CEMPs submitted by contractors. • Compliance & Risk Management Work with Construction teams and local Regional Environmental Engineers to ensure compliance with environmental regulatory requirements. Manage environmental incidents and non-compliances, coordinating responses with regulatory agencies as needed. Provide technical support to construction teams on environmental matters. • Incident Management & Continuous Improvement Participate in incident investigations and corrective action development. Ensure Root Cause Analyses and Corrections of Errors are completed on time. Verify that recommendations are implemented by construction teams. Proactively identify and resolve issues to prevent incidents and drive improvements across the Spain portfolio. • Collaboration & Documentation Collaborate with Construction Managers, General Contractors, environmental consultants, and cross-functional teams including AWS Environmental Legal, InfraOps, and Design Engineering. Review design changes that may impact environmental compliance. Develop local documentation, prepare regulatory reports, and track environmental metrics and program performance. Skills, Knowledge and Experience • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college, • 10 years of experience in electrical power design and construction required (15+ years preferred), • Accredited engineering credentials preferred (Chartered Engineer in EU / Professional Engineer in NA), • Mission Critical (Data Centers, Semiconductors, Pharmaceutical etc.) design, construction and/or customer side experience is required. (5+ years preferred), • Experience with EU construction markets & regulations required, • Proficient in BlueBeam, Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud, • Understanding of BIM, Revit and Navisworks environments, • Working knowledge of critical power infrastructure within a data center project from external power supply, to end circuit supply to the racks., • Understanding of the basics of HV/MV substations design & operations and interfaces with the Utility and individual buildings., • Working knowledge of all building and fire codes ordinances, including IEC standards, • National and international travel required is expected to be 10 to 15%, but may increase over time as the business & role evolves Vantage Data Centers does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firm agencies. Our Client is experiencing significant growth across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Their expanding portfolio of mission critical and data centre projects presents an exciting opportunity for a senior technical leader to influence the future direction of their engineering capability and technical standards. This role offers the opportunity to become the senior electrical technical authority within a rapidly growing specialist consultancy. The successful candidate will shape engineering excellence, mentor teams, support project delivery and provide technical assurance across major international projects. They are specifically seeking a highly respected technical authority who remains actively involved in engineering design, technical problem solving, mentoring and project delivery. This is an office based leadership role. The successful candidate will be required to work from our London office every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as a minimum. This requirement is non-negotiable and forms an essential part of the role. Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership, undertake design reviews, support detailed engineering calculations, mentor engineers, lead technical governance, support project delivery and maintain consistency of technical standards across multiple concurrent projects. Technical Expertise Required Extensive experience in mission critical electrical systems including HV and MV infrastructure, standby generation, UPS systems, critical power distribution, protection studies, fault level analysis, earthing systems, resilience strategies and utility interfaces. Essential Experience Degree qualified Electrical Engineer, Chartered Engineer preferred, typically 15+ years experience, extensive data centre delivery experience, strong international project exposure across Europe and the Middle East, and proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
