  • Senior/Head Baker
    Senior/Head Baker
    £55000–£60000 yearly
    Full-time
    London

We're looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior / Head Baker to join the Boxcar bakery team at an exciting point in its growth. Initially, this is a night baking role, working hands-on in our current bakery at Boxcar Marylebone and taking a senior role in the overnight production of our breads, viennoiserie and wider bakery range. But this isn't where the role stays. We're preparing to open a new central production unit (CPU), which will become an important part of the wider Boxcar bakery operation. As we make that move, this role will evolve with it, taking on responsibility for the new bakery and helping to oversee production across both sites. We need someone with the technical skill to deliver exceptional product now, and the organisation, leadership and ambition to step into greater responsibility as we grow. You'll work closely with our Executive Chef to build a bakery operation that is creative, consistent and able to grow without losing the craft and quality at its heart. About You & The Role You'll be an experienced baker with strong technical knowledge and a genuine love of the craft. You'll be confident across artisan bread, sourdough, fermentation and viennoiserie, including double lamination, and comfortable with the wider demands of a busy bakery. You'll set a high standard at the bench and make sure quality and consistency hold throughout the shift. Just as importantly, you'll be able to organise a busy production environment, communicate well and naturally take responsibility when it's needed. Once the CPU opens, the scope of the role will grow significantly. You'll play an important part in establishing the new operation, take responsibility for its day-to-day production, and work across both sites to keep products, processes and standards consistent. You don't need to have managed a large bakery before. We're interested in someone with the foundations to take that next step: technically strong, organised, dependable and excited to help shape a growing operation. It's a great opportunity for an experienced baker who wants to stay close to the craft while taking real ownership of a bakery operation. You'll need to be comfortable working night shifts initially, with the understanding that your working pattern and responsibilities will evolve as the CPU opens. Key Responsibilities • Bakery production and craft, • Leadership and ownership of the bakery operation, • Creative and product development, • Standards and operations, • Working closely with senior leadership on the continued development of the Boxcar bakery offer Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to: • Join Boxcar at an important stage in the growth of our bakery operation, • Play a key role in opening and establishing our new central production unit, • Work across two bakery operations and help shape how they work together, • Have genuine input into products, processes and ways of working, • Be part of an independent, ambitious and quality-driven hospitality group What We Offer • Performance-related bonus, • Instant access to wages via Stream, • Refer a friend scheme, • Company dining discounts, • Staff meals This is a role with room to grow. We're hiring for the baker we need today, and for the bakery operation we're building next.

CHEF DE PARTIE New opening — premium Italian restaurant, Hampton Court We're a hospitality group that has been running restaurants in this area for 20 years. We currently have four sites, and at the end of October we're opening our fifth: a premium Italian restaurant near Hampton Court, seating around 70. Chef de Partie £15/Hour The food is proper Italian cooking with a modern hand: good ingredients, treated properly, served well. The standards are high and we won't pretend otherwise. What we offer back is a company that pays on time, plans ahead, and promotes from within. FREE ACCOMMODATION IS AVAILABLE FOR SOME OF THESE ROLES. START DATE: ASAP, ahead of the opening. You'll be in from the soft opening, setting the place up with us. THE ROLE We're taking on two Chefs de Partie, working across starters, sides and desserts. You'll move between sections, so you need to be comfortable on all three rather than settled on one. You'll be running your section during service: your own mise en place, your own ordering, your own standard. You'll be working to the Head Chef's direction — the menu, the specs and the method are set by them, and your job is to hold that standard every service. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR — At least two years' proven experience in Italian kitchens — Confident across starters, sides and desserts — Able to run your own mise en place — Good English — you'll need to understand, be understood, and write clearly — Someone who works well in a team, not around it — Available full time, shifts across all seven days — The right to live and work in the UK These are requirements, not a wish list. If you're missing one of them, this isn't the right role for you.
