Role Purpose Provide strategic financial leadership and manage day-to-day finance operations across our Business-to-Business (B2B) channels and online marketplaces. This role oversees high-volume transactional data, multi-currency accounting, inventory landed costs, and HMRC tax compliance. Key Responsibilities: Revenue and Gateway Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliations of payouts, platform fees, refunds, and chargebacks across Shopify, Amazon (UK/EU), eBay, Stripe, PayPal etc. against multi-currency bank accounts. Tax Compliance and Reporting: Prepare and submit UK VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD) rules. Manage Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA), duty deferment accounts, customs charges, and reporting for cross-border transactions. Inventory and COGS Accounting: Calculate accurate landed costs (factoring in freight, customs duty, and port fees) across multi-location 3PL warehouses. Track inventory movements, write-downs, and monthly COGS calculations. Channel Profitability Analysis: Produce monthly channel-by-channel P&L statements (UK vs. EU vs. Rest of World). Analyse gross margins, return rates, marketplace commission structures, and ad spend efficiency. Systems and Integration Management: Audit and maintain automated data syncs between sales channels, middleware (e.g., A2X, Link My Books), and core accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite). Financial Controls and Operational Governance: Enforce internal control policies, establish robust refund approval procedures, and manage granular cash flow reporting. Logistics and Supplier Accounts: Oversee supplier invoice settlements, audit price discrepancies, and manage claims filings with logistics partners for lost or damaged goods. Executive Support: Assist the Managing Director and Finance Director with budgeting, forecasting, end-of-year accounts, and management report packs. Required Qualifications and Experience: Professional Certification: ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualified/part-qualified (or AAT Level 4 with extensive relevant e-commerce experience). Sector Experience: 4+ years in general accounting, with a minimum of 1 – 2 years focused on UK e-commerce, B2B, or multi-channel marketplaces. Tax and Customs Knowledge: Proven expertise in UK VAT regulations, MTD compliance, PVA import rules, and cross-border tax frameworks. Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Brightpearl, or NetSuite, alongside Shopify Admin, Amazon Seller Central, and e-commerce connectors (A2X). Data Analysis: Advanced Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets skills (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, foreign exchange gain / loss accounting, and manipulation of large CSV transactional data sets). Soft Skills: Strong commercial awareness, high attention to detail, time management, and the flexibility to champion finance functions within a collaborative small team. Location: Tipton, UK.
