Birchwood School, part of Orbis Education & Care, supports children and young people with Autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, and complex barriers to learning. About the Role As a Teacher at Birchwood School, you will deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences tailored to each pupil’s individual needs. You will work collaboratively with therapists, care staff, families and a skilled team of Learning Support Assistants to create a positive, inclusive and structured learning environment. A key part of this role includes managing, coaching and developing a team of Learning Support Assistants, ensuring they are confident, supported and effective in their practice. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and delivering differentiated lessons aligned to individual learning needs Creating a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment Using positive behaviour support strategies in line with school policies Monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and parents/carers Supporting pupils’ wellbeing, including personal care where required Leading, coaching and supporting Learning Support Assistants to ensure high‑quality classroom practice Promoting safeguarding, equality and inclusion at all timesWhat We’re Looking For Essential: GCSEs (A*–C or equivalent), including English and Maths A child‑centred approach and passion for inclusive education Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to adapt teaching methods to support complex needs Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing Experience supporting or leading others in a classroom environmentDesirable: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience working with pupils with Autism, SEMH or additional learning needs Confidence working within a multidisciplinary team A creative, flexible and reflective approach to teaching and learning Experience coaching or mentoring support staffWhy Join Birchwood School?
