BMS Commissioning Engineer South East England with UK travel £42,000 to £60,000 + company van + 25 days holiday + bank holidays + NEST pension Commission properly, solve real problems, and work on systems that actually need your engineering brain If you are good at commissioning but tired of being used as a pair of hands rather than a technical engineer, this could give you more room to do the job properly. You’ll work across BMS commissioning, software changes, integration, fault-finding, audits, and client handover, with the chance to add value on live projects nationwide. You’ll join a growing business that wants to improve how BMS work is delivered, not just copy the same tired approach everyone else uses. Why this could beat your current role You’ll get variety. This is not a role where you spend every week doing the same plantroom checks on the same patch. You’ll commission and optimise systems, support upgrades to legacy sites, work with Trend, Siemens and Priva, and deal with open protocol integrations including BACnet, Modbus and M-Bus. You’ll also be part of a business growing its BMS division, which matters if you want your next move to open doors rather than just pay the same money in a different van. What you’ll be doing and why it’s interesting • Commission BMS systems from specification through to handover, carrying out point-to-point checks, functional testing, cause-and-effect testing, and performance validation., • Diagnose and fix faults across hardware, software and networks, including sensors, actuators, controllers, logic, and integrations., • Develop and modify BMS software and graphics, helping systems operate in line with design intent rather than just “good enough to leave site”., • Integrate third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus, and M-Bus, validating data quality and control interlocks., • Support client witnessing, demonstrations, and snag closure, keeping projects moving and handovers clean., • Carry out audits, surveys, PPM and reactive work when needed, giving you a wider technical role than pure commissioning alone., • Produce clear commissioning records and handover documentation, including reports, backups, test sheets, and as-fitted information. The challenge This is predominantly a site-based role with travel across the UK and occasional overnight stays depending on project location and programme. You’ll also be working on upgrades and live environments where disruption has to be kept to a minimum. For the right engineer, that is where your judgement, planning, and fault-finding really show up. What you’ll bring • At least 5 years’ BMS commissioning experience, • Ability to independently commission, test, fault-find, and hand over systems, • Strong understanding of HVAC plant, controls theory, and building services, • Experience with at least some of the following: Trend, Siemens PX, RDM, Priva, • Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and M-Bus, • Confidence reading drawings, schematics, and control strategies Qualifications and deal-breakers • Proven BMS commissioning experience, • Valid CSCS and SSSTS, • Full UK driving licence, • Right to Work in the UK Practicalities • Based in South East England, • Travel to client sites across the UK, • Regular attendance at company offices in Kent, • Permanent role, • Predominantly site based, • Occasional overnight stays as projects require, • £42,000 to £60,000, depending on experience, • Company van provided, • 25 days holiday + public holidays, • NEST pension scheme, • Basic DBS check required where client protocols apply What’s next Apply today.
