Job Description Job Title: Industrial Painter – 1st Shift Job Description This role offers the opportunity to work as an Industrial Painter in a small, clean job shop environment on 1st shift. You will prepare, prime, and paint metal parts using spray equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet production and quality standards. Responsibilities • Hang parts securely to be moved through the wash bay using the pulley system., • Wash and clean parts thoroughly prior to painting to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality., • Set up and operate a paint spray gun to apply primer and multiple coats of paint to parts according to specifications., • Apply primer and at least two coats of paint, maintaining consistent coverage and finish across all surfaces., • Monitor paint viscosity, spray patterns, and equipment settings to achieve a uniform and high-quality finish., • Place painted parts in designated drying areas and ensure they cure properly before handling., • Un-rack finished products carefully after drying to avoid damage to the painted surfaces., • Perform basic surface preparation such as sanding, scuffing, or cleaning as needed before painting., • Follow established procedures for working in and around the paint booth and wash bay., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including paint equipment, spray guns, and booths., • Adhere to all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment when spraying, washing, or handling parts., • Hands-on experience with industrial painting in a manufacturing or job shop environment., • Proficiency in using paint spray guns to apply primer and multiple coats of paint., • Ability to perform paint preparation tasks, including washing parts and basic sanding., • Familiarity with working in or around a paint booth and wash bay., • Capability to handle, hang, and un-rack parts safely without damaging finishes., • Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent, high-quality paint finishes., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures., • Experience as an Industrial Painter, Spray Painter, or similar painting role., • Experience with industrial paint, coatings, and finishing processes., • Exposure to powder coating or powder coat operations., • Experience with auto body painting or refinishing., • Familiarity with spray painting, spray guns, and paint sprayers in a production setting., • Experience with blasting or sandblasting as part of surface preparation. Work Environment The position is based in a small, clean job shop local to Indianapolis, focused on manufacturing and finishing metal parts. You will work primarily on 1st shift in and around a wash bay and paint booth, using spray guns, paint sprayers, and related industrial painting equipment. The facility maintains an orderly and professional production floor, with processes designed to support safe handling of paints, coatings, and parts throughout the finishing process. Dress is typical for a hands-on industrial role, with appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment required when operating spray equipment, working in the wash bay, or handling painted parts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
