In the event of conflicts the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director’s will determine greatest need. * Responsible for game and event preparation of O’Dowd student-athletes. * Responsible for the medical counseling of athletic-related injuries and inquiries by student-athletes. * Responsible for communication with other medical professionals regarding athletic injuries, rehabilitation, and return to play guidelines. * Responsible for distributing necessary insurance paperwork to student-athletes in regards to athletic-related injuries. * Responsible for accident reports for injuries received and evaluated during athletic contests covered by the athletic trainer. * Responsible for distributing emergency contact information and supplies to coaches at the beginning of each season. * Responsible for completing all necessary requirements of athletic training involved in secondary school sports. * Responsible for maintaining national certification by completing the necessary Continuing Education Units (CEU). * Responsible for completing the necessary annual requirements of CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications. * Responsible for maintaining continuous personal liability insurance so that we can provide NCS medical coverage for our athletics teams. * Responsible for communication with coaches on current injury status via injury reports. SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATE: NATABOC certification, Current CPR certification. Qualifications: * MANDATORY: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training program and certified by the NATABOC. * Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy; able to evaluate injury and determine treatment. * Maintain accurate and appropriate training records. * Knowledge of CIF, NCS, NATA and NWACC regulations and the use and maintenance of athletic training equipment. Physical Demands * While performing the duties, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time. * This position requires the ability to walk for long distances (large venue sites), occasionally run for shorter distances (getting quickly to the site of an injured athlete), and frequent bending and twisting. * Duties will involve moving materials/objects up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, frequent listing/carrying of objects, and lifting up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis, as well as assisting an injured athlete. Medium strength is required to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table. * Manual dexterity and coordination using one or both hands are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Youth & Adult Sports Coordinator PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must possess mobility to work in a sports facility setting and use equipment. Strength is needed to lift and carry recreation equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time; and flexibility to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. May involve significant standing, walking, pushing, bending and/or pulling to participate in recreation activities. Visual acuity sufficient to perform essential functions of the position. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS Employees work in a sports facility setting with loud to moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions. Employees may interact with challenging staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. Applicants should also exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability. Have good organizational skills. Possess a positive coaching philosophy, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. WORKING CONDITIONS Schedule will vary between 10-20 hours per week. Practices and games will typically be scheduled Monday-Friday in-between 3:00pm-9:00pm (final practice and game schedule will be provided closer to season). There will be weekend work as well as trainings and meetings you will be asked to attend. COMPENSATION • As Rec Leader I - $16 - $18 per hour, • As Rec Leader II - $18 - $22 per hour
