Job Description Job purpose Under the supervision of the Workforce Development Program Manager, the Employment Specialist is responsible for expanding community access to workforce services through proactive outreach, presentations, and partnership development, while providing direct employment and career services to job seekers and workers. This position plays a key role in increasing program visibility, engaging underserved populations, and supporting individuals in securing and retaining employment. Duties and responsibilities Outreach & Community Engagement • Conduct proactive outreach to promote workforce programs through presentations, workshops, community events, job fairs, and partner site visits., • Develop and deliver workshops on job search strategies, resume writing, interviewing skills, career pathways, and worker rights., • Represent the organization at community meetings and external events to increase program awareness and participation., • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, educational institutions, employers, and worker advocacy groups to expand service access., • Provide individualized employment counseling, including career assessments, employment planning, and goal setting. [case management], • Assist participants with resume and cover letter preparation, interview coaching, job search strategies, and online applications., • Provide job referrals and connect participants to hiring employers and training opportunities., • Educate workers on employment resources and workplace rights, as applicable to program guidelines., • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of outreach activities, participant services, and outcomes in compliance with program and reporting requirements., • Bachelor’s degree in social services, workforce development, human services, education, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience., • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in workforce development, case management, community outreach, or related services preferred., • Experience conducting presentations, workshops, or public speaking engagements strongly preferred., • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills., • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including immigrants, low-income individuals, and individuals facing employment barriers., • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems., • Bilingual in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and/or Spanish preferred., • Valid California driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and available transportation. Physical Demands • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time., • Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., • Able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer., • Able to constantly position yourself to maintain files in file cabinets such as reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching, etc., • The ability to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information is crucial for this role.
