Job Description Job Title: Truck Unloader Job Description This role involves highly physical manual labor in a fast-paced warehouse environment, unloading trailers and containers filled with burlap coffee sacks. You will work in small teams to manually move, stack, and palletize heavy bags throughout the day. The position requires consistent lifting, working in hot conditions, and maintaining safe and efficient handling of materials. Shift & Pay: • $16/hr ($.50 pay increase once perm), • 7am-3:30pm, • If goals are reached before end of the day, can leave early and be paid for a full 40 hours! Responsibilities • Manually unload trailers by removing burlap coffee sacks stacked on the floor (not on pallets) as part of a two-person team., • Lift and handle burlap coffee sacks weighing approximately 132–154 pounds, safely and repeatedly throughout the shift., • Work with a partner to grab bags and throw them onto pallets, maintaining proper form and teamwork to prevent injury., • Adjust to increasing difficulty as the stacks get lower to the ground, requiring more bending and lifting from lower positions., • Unload containers in a similar manner, with two people throwing bags and two people stacking them neatly on pallets to maximize fit and stability., • Palletize and load by moving bags from larger coffee-sized pallets to standard pallets and stacking bags up to 10 high., • Work in teams to organize, stack, and secure bags on pallets to ensure they are stable and ready for transport., • Load trailers by hand, taking bags off pallets and placing them into empty trailers in an orderly and efficient manner., • Move an average of 1,200–1,300 bags per day as a team of four, contributing to meeting daily productivity goals., • Participate in a daily morning meeting at 7:15 a.m. to review the plan, assignments, and safety expectations for the day., • Follow all safety procedures, especially when lifting heavy loads and working in hot trailer and warehouse environments., • Assist with general labor tasks related to unloading, loading, pallet building, and palletizing as needed., • Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to complete the four primary unloading and loading jobs assigned each day., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper stacking and placement of pallets and materials. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of manual or physical labor experience., • Experience working in hot environments, including trailers that may be hotter than outside temperatures., • Ability and comfort lifting 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the day., • Hands-on experience with unloading trucks, loading, and general labor tasks., • Experience with pallet building and palletizing., • Ability to perform repetitive, highly physical tasks safely and efficiently., • Comfort working with burlap sacks and handling rough materials., • Reliability and punctuality to attend daily 7:15 a.m. meetings and work scheduled hours., • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to coordinate with a small crew to complete shared tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Forklift experience is a plus., • Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, loaders, or similar machinery is beneficial., • Familiarity with lumping and trailer unloading processes is advantageous., • Willingness to pursue forklift certification offered periodically., • Comfort working in very hot trailer and warehouse conditions on a regular basis. Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse and trailer environment that is very physical and often hot, with trailers frequently hotter than the outside temperature. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a daily meeting at 7:15 a.m., two 15-minute breaks, and one 30-minute lunch. Overtime is rare but may occur occasionally. You will work as part of a four-person team, manually moving and stacking heavy burlap coffee sacks and building pallets. The position involves continuous lifting, bending, and carrying throughout the shift, with an average of 1,200–1,300 bags moved per day among the team. The environment uses standard warehouse tools and equipment such as pallets, pallet jacks, and potentially forklifts and loaders. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, long pants, and T-shirts (dry-fit shirts are recommended); long sleeves are optional and may be preferred due to constant contact with burlap coffee sacks.
