Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechanical Project Manager Job Description This role leads the mechanical scope of a large semiconductor construction project in Boise, Idaho. The Mechanical Project Manager oversees mechanical construction activities with a strong focus on plumbing systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to specification. The position combines project leadership, technical oversight, client relationship management, and team mentoring in a fast-paced, high-growth market supporting a major chip manufacturing facility. Responsibilities • Lead and manage the mechanical scope of a large semiconductor construction project, with particular emphasis on plumbing and process piping systems., • Own and manage project estimates, scoping, proposals, safety, and execution while meeting or exceeding profitability goals., • Accurately estimate mechanical work, including labor, materials, and equipment for HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems., • Understand mechanical systems costing and perform value analysis to optimize design and installation strategies., • Coordinate closely with engineering staff to ensure complete, constructible designs and clearly defined scopes that align with project budgets., • Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to plan and support prefabrication, and attend coordination meetings to align field and shop work., • Participate in business development activities to help secure new work and maintain strong, ongoing client relationships., • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients through proactive communication and reliable project delivery., • Estimate, negotiate, and process change orders, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with contract requirements., • Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs, providing regular updates on project financial performance., • Purchase and buy out major mechanical equipment and subcontracts, and expedite and track deliveries to support project schedules., • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of project contracts, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance and scope clarity., • Ensure all work complies with project standards, specifications, and contractual requirements., • Plan, organize, and schedule project work for field labor and fabrication shop work packages, aligning manpower and material needs with project milestones., • Ensure full compliance with safety programs and promote a strong safety culture on site., • Communicate proactively and professionally with project engineers, coordinators, field teams, clients, and other stakeholders., • Mentor and coach Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, fostering a positive, high-performing team environment., • Use project management and construction software tools to manage documents, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and schedules., • Uphold core values, maintain regular attendance and promptness, and demonstrate a results-driven work ethic., • Support commercial construction best practices and contribute to continuous improvement in processes and project delivery.Essential Skills, • 1+ years of experience as a Mechanical Project Manager OR 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer in mechanical or commercial construction., • Demonstrated experience with mechanical construction, including HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems., • High level of technical competency in plumbing scope, including the ability to read and understand complex plumbing drawings and details., • In-depth understanding of mechanical installation sequencing and field constructability., • Proven experience managing and coaching project engineers in a construction environment., • Strong knowledge of RFIs, submittals, and change order processes and documentation., • Accurate estimation skills for mechanical work, including takeoffs, bidding, and budgeting., • Construction management and project management experience in commercial construction settings., • Ability to understand and communicate basic and intermediate mechanical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders., • Advanced organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines., • Strong attention to detail, recognizing that errors can lead to significant financial impact., • Excellent written and oral communication skills for coordination with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors., • Results-driven work ethic with a focus on meeting schedule, quality, and financial goals., • Ability to multi-task and manage several concurrent responsibilities effectively., • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software., • Proficiency with Bluebeam for drawing review, markups, and takeoffs., • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar construction management platforms (e.g., Procore)., • Experience with Smartsheet, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint for collaboration and project tracking., • Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista or similar construction accounting/project management systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working on large, complex semiconductor or advanced manufacturing projects., • Background in commercial construction projects involving HVAC, plumbing, and process piping installations., • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts., • Experience with change order estimation, negotiation, and documentation in a fast-paced project environment., • Comfort working with fabrication shops and understanding of prefabrication workflows., • Ability to interpret and apply project contracts, specifications, and technical standards., • Leadership skills that foster a positive working environment and high-performing project teams., • Comfort using a variety of digital tools and cloud-based platforms to manage documents, schedules, and communication., • Interest in gaining experience in a competitive and rapidly growing construction market supporting chip manufacturing facilities.Work Environment This is an onsite role at a large semiconductor project in Boise, Idaho, working closely with a dedicated project team in a dynamic construction environment. The position is salaried with an expectation of approximately 50 hours per week, with additional overtime paid at time and a half for Saturday work. The work involves regular interaction with field crews, fabrication shops, engineering teams, and project stakeholders, requiring frequent coordination meetings and on-site presence. You will use a suite of digital tools and construction technologies, including MS Office, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, Teams, SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar platforms (such as Procore), and Viewpoint Vista to manage project information and communication. The environment is fast-paced and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety, collaboration, and consistent, professional communication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $158125.00/hr.
