Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnician 1 - pay is up to $26.12 • Complies with established safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, community residents, and visitors., • Provide quality internal and external customer service, through the development of relationships with staff, contractors, community members and various organizations., • Proactively work to support quality service delivery to community by acting on all observed opportunities for repair, maintenance, and improved service delivery., • Perform weekly inspections of building facilities and playgrounds., • Perform monthly electrical inspections, minor repairs and work with outside electrical contractors when needed., • Coordinate the installation of Holiday lights with an outside contractor annually., • Assist with the training and/or supervision of subordinate employees., • Operate tractors, skid steer loaders, welders, small trucks, aerial boom trucks, and all hand and power tools., • Work with facilities staff on large and small projects, repairs, and special project requests., • Work with Mansion staff on maintenance requests., • Maintain lighting and install new Veterans tiles at the Veterans Monument., • Work closely with the Facilities Supervisor and lead Technician to establish and maintain a quality fence maintenance program., • Perform required maintenance to district-owned fences and assist with the fence replacement program as needed., • Assist with vandalism repairs and graffiti removal that may occur on District property., • Coordinate the annual energizing and winterization of plumbed restrooms/concession areas and drinking fountains., • Perform general repairs of the park’s facilities and service center buildings., • Complete work orders using facilities maintenance request forms and Asset Essentials work order and asset management system., • Contribute to the snow removal program and adjust schedule using flextime. This may include weekend and nighttime hours operating snow removal equipment., • Assist in setting up and taking down special event equipment from various parks, recreation programs, and community events., • Respect District property, including tools, vehicles, and equipment., • Open and close, lock and unlock facilities as needed., • Peripheral Duties:, • Collaborates professionally with other Section, Division, Department and District employees., • May be assigned to serve as a member on various employee committees., • Performs weekly inspections and repairs of building facilities and playgrounds as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector., • Purchases replacement parts for playground equipment and maintains a good working relationship with all vendors., • Performs removal of all types of graffiti throughout the Parks and Open Space system., • Assist Tech III or Facility Supervisor with the coordination of the annual fence staining program., • Assist Tech III or Facilities Supervisor to oversee the fence replacement program., • Coordinates the general repairs of Metro District owned fences., • Identifies, documents, and notifies residents of parkway fence violations in accordance with District rules and regulations., • Maintains District drinking fountains throughout the park system including the annual energizing and winterization of plumbed restrooms/concession areas and drinking fountains., • Coordinate with outside sanitary contractors to pump out waste holding tanks in Park system waterless restrooms., • Operates tractors, skid steer loaders, welders, small trucks, aerial boom trucks, and all hand and power tools., • Trains staff on the safe and proper use of District equipment and how to complete incident and accident reports., • Assists with the training and/or supervision of Tech I or temporary employees., • Peripheral Duty: Work cooperatively with outside entities and community partners such as HRCA and local Homeowner’s Associations.Education and ExperienceTechnician 1, • High School graduate or completion of G.E.D., • Two years’ experience in facility maintenance, playground maintenance, or construction trades., • Any equivalent combination of education and experience., • General working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in general construction projects, building maintenance, and playground maintenance.Technician 2, • High School graduate or completion of G.E.D., with emphasis on vocational trades and 4 years’ experience in Facility maintenance, playground maintenance or construction trades., • Any equivalent combination of education and experience., • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems., • Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in general construction projects, building maintenance, and playground maintenance., • Certified in first aid and CPR.Necessary Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities, • Skilled in the operation of listed tools and equipment., • Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule., • Lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions., • Excellent verbal, written, and email communication skills., • Understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions., • Use equipment and tools properly and safely., • Establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public., • Strong work ethic and demonstrated desire to learn., • Ability to perform the essential duties listed above., • Physically able to move about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions. Technician 2: May supervise Facilities Technician I and temporary employees on projects and tasks as required and assigned. Work Schedule Generally, this position works between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The work schedule will vary depending on weather conditions, projects, events, programs, meetings, and staffing levels and will include some evening, early morning, weekend, and overtime hours. This position is part of the Metro District’s on-call/weekend schedule for snow removal. This position is required to be on-call and work nights and weekends as scheduled by the snow removal leader. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Tools and Equipment Used Tractors, skid steer loaders, welders, small trucks, aerial boom truck, all hand and power tools, carpentry saws and tools, snow removal equipment, pickup trucks, paint sprayer, plumbing equipment, cement mixer, power washer and finishing tools. Computer, telephone, cell phone, calculator, and other related office equipment. Computer programs, including asset inventory and work order management software, Microsoft Office suite, and Excel.
