Job Summary: As a Systems Engineering Intern within the Space & Airborne Center you will interface with the multiple disciplined Engineers working closely to follow and adhere to the Programs developed CONOPS system architecture system requirements and manage qualification verification and validation. Our center focuses on back-end Sustainment as well as transitioning systems through integration and test from production to warranty/sustainment. You will also perform functional / physical analysis allocation and trade studies where applicable. You will support with providing Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) services. FRACAS provides a systematic means of identifying analyzing and resolving the root cause of product defects. You will work with and adhere to Program(s)s FRACAS Plans in accordance with SDRL WS-F15-23900 Data Item E-14.46. This position is onsite role. This position can be a Sophomore Junior or Senior Technical Intern based on the candidates qualifications and standing as outlined below: • (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program (or higher) and classified as a Sophomore by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment., • (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program (or higher) and classified as a Junior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment., • (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program (or higher) and classified as a Senior by start of internship or provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment. What You Will Do: • Provide Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) services for the Program(s). FRACAS provides a systematic means of identifying analyzing and resolving the root cause of product defects., • Collect and maintain field failure and depot repair data in a FRACAS database., • Conduct or participate in Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings to review failure data for trends and program impact to determine if further analysis and corrective action is needed., • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations including the use of analysis tools such as MATLAB and Python, • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders, • Determine the root cause of failures and generate the formal documentation (CARs ECRs or ECPs) required to initiate corrective actions if necessary., • Review corrective action validations for effectiveness to determine if further action is required., • Generate final reports detailing analysis results and corrective action implementation., • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders, • Use technical and analytical skills to solve complex issues, • Maintain engineering specification (DS ARD etc.) & drawing (Schematics & Assembly Drawings), • Maintain engineering databases, • Provide production yield analysis/opportunities Qualifications You Must Have: • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree program, • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance., • Academic or internship experience that includes managing of data and database items, • Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues in an academic or internship setting or as part of a hobby, • Exposure to data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Office Python MATLAB and/or C Qualifications We Prefer: • Experience or coursework in Engineering, • Extracurricular involvement in school groups/clubs and/or the community, • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher, • Basic understanding on how radar systems are developed and function, • Understanding of radar modes and operation such as air/air detection air/ground detection and ground mapping capabilities, • Understanding of radar hardware such as receiver/exciters antennas processors and the key performance parameters associated with each, • Understanding of radar timelines and timing and control, • Understanding of the different types of waveforms used/available and the pros and cons of each, • Understanding of radar performance predictions such as detection range and dynamic range and how these flow down to hardware parameters, • Understanding of the different stages of radar testing (hardware radar lab flight test production), • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions, • Strong communication skills including effective written verbal and listening skills Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems, • Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources What We Offer: • Our values drive our actions behaviors and performance with a vision for a safer more connected world.
