About The Role What you would be doing: We are excited to add a Customer Insights Intern to our team! Reporting to the Head of Product Management, this role will help us unlock the value of our existing customer data and strengthen the foundation of our customer insight efforts. This Intern will collate and analyze existing feedback, conduct focus groups or survey interviews , and collaborate across teams to ensure our single family residential retrofit product data helps us see the full picture of our customer experience and where we can improve. Additionally, this role will help inform and build the customer feedback loops that enable us to continue to gain insight into our customer journey to inform insights and prioritize improvements, all on our product roadmap.We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable working with raw data and speaking directly with homeowners—someone who can extract insights and then translate them into tangible improvements in our customer journey. Big Things: • Analyze and synthesize customer data (surveys, interviews, NPS, reviews) to surface meaningful insights that inform the product roadmap to continue to improve our offering., • Conduct homeowner interviews and distill qualitative stories into actionable findings, • Document insights and share recommendations that inform product, marketing, and customer success strategies, • Collaborate with Marketing to refine residential customer personas and behaviors, • Partner with Product to identify and recommend post-install customer journey improvements, • Support the design and implementation of lightweight feedback loops (surveys, referral triggers, review requests), • Build and maintain spreadsheets or lightweight dashboards that make insights easy to access, • Responding to support tickets, • Managing frontline customer escalations, • Within 1 week: Become familiar with existing customer data sources and tools, initiate design of homeowner interviews to fill gaps in data, • Within 2–4 weeks: Lead interviews independently, synthesize insights, and share early recommendations with stakeholders, • Customer feedback is consistently captured, organized, and made actionable, • Insights directly inform tangible product or journey improvements, • Teams across Elephant (Product, Marketing, Central Ops) rely on your work to guide decisionsYou're a great fit for this role if you have:, • MBA or Graduate-level coursework (could be Energy/Climate Policy, Marketing, UX Research, or other relevant field), • Strong analytical skills and fluent in spreadsheets; able to clean, organize, and manipulate raw data, • Experience conducting user interviews, surveys, or research projects (academic or professional), • Curiosity and empathy for customers, with strong listening and interpersonal skills, • Ability to move from insight → recommendation → action (the "so what" of research), • Clear written communication with the ability to distill complex ideas and synthesize data, • Familiarity with tools like Google Sheets, Typeform, Salesforce; willingness to learn others, • Interest in sustainable home solutions, electrification, or climate techIndicators this may not be the right role for you:, • You are uncomfortable conducting interviews or engaging directly with customers, • You are more comfortable managing data and building dashboards to inform decisions than engaging stakeholders and influencing, • You don't feel personally aligned with our mission to electrify homes and decarbonize the built environmentCompensation, • Flat monthly compensation of $4,000, • Remote-first work culture; must overlap with Mountain Time Zone Location: While this position is posted in Denver, Boston, and Los Angeles, Elephant Energy's positions can be fully remote and you can work from home. We are a Hybrid company with Herdquarters in Broomfield, Colorado and get together as a team semi-annually in Colorado.
