Organization Overview Building Blocks Facades is redefining architecture through cutting-edge Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC), Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) and glass facade systems. Our work bridges the gap between architectural concept to full execution-delivering iconic, bespoke facades for landmark projects across the U.S. and internationally. We merge advanced material science with digital design and fabrication to push the boundaries of possibility in architectural facades. Role Overview The Carpenter plays a critical role in Building Blocks Facades’ advanced manufacturing operations, supporting the fabrication of GFRC, UHPC, and architectural precast façade systems. This position is responsible for building, maintaining, and adjusting high‑precision wood and hybrid mold components that form the basis for architectural panels, cast elements, and specialty façade parts. Working in a fast‑paced, high‑standards fabrication environment, the Carpenter must deliver craftsmanship, accuracy, and consistency while collaborating closely with Mold Makers, Production Leads, Quality Technicians, and the Engineering/Design teams. The role directly impacts product quality, production velocity, and downstream installation performance. Key Responsibilities 1. Fabrication & Mold Building • Construct wood‑based mold components, templates, and formwork using plywood, MDF, hardwoods, and engineered substrates., • Build accurate jigs, bases, chamfers, reveals, and architectural profiles per shop drawings., • Install bracing, backing, and support structures ensuring strength, stability, and dimensional accuracy., • Assist in hybrid mold builds incorporating fiberglass, foam, metal components, CNC‑cut parts, and 3D printing technology. 2. Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, sketches, and panelization layouts., • Verify dimensions, geometry, tolerances, and architectural details prior to fabrication., • Identify discrepancies or unclear information and communicate with Engineering or Mold Shop Leadership for resolution. 3. Equipment Operation • Safely operate saws, routers, sanders, planers, drills, nailers, joiners, and other carpentry tools., • Maintain clean, organized, and properly calibrated tools and workstations., • Follow lock-out/tag-out and machine safety procedures. 4. Quality Assurance & Accuracy • Ensure all fabricated components meet specified tolerances, squareness, flatness, and surface requirements., • Conduct pre‑pour inspections of molds and formwork., • Repair, adjust, and refine molds to address non-conformances and ensure production readiness. 5. Collaboration & Production Support • Work closely with Mold Makers, Fabrication Leads, and Quality Techs during pre‑production alignment., • Support production cycle efficiency by preparing molds for casting and assisting with demolding as needed., • Communicate material shortages, design issues, and safety concerns quickly and clearly. 6. Safety & Housekeeping • Follow all plant safety requirements, PPE usage, and equipment operation standards., • Maintain a clean, organized, hazard‑free work area that meets Building Blocks’ housekeeping standards., • Participate in toolbox talks, training sessions, and ongoing safety initiatives. Qualifications Required • 3+ years carpentry experience in construction, formwork, cabinetry, millwork, or related fabrication., • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and shop plans., • Experience using woodworking tools with skill, safety, and precision., • Knowledge of squareness, leveling, measuring, and layout best practices., • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Preferred • Experience in concrete formwork, precast, GFRC, UHPC or architectural fabrication environments., • Experience working with CNC‑cut components, foam, or composite materials., • Knowledge of fabrication tolerances, architectural details, and mold-making processes. Core Competencies • High craftsmanship and attention to detail, • Strong spatial reasoning and layout skills, • Safety‑focused mindset, • Ownership, reliability, and consistency, • Effective communication, • Ability to work in fast‑paced production environments Note to Recruitment Agencies: We love your enthusiasm, but we prefer to connect with our candidates directly.
