Job Description Job Title: General Laborer Shipping and Receiving Job Description This role focuses on assembling, preparing, and handling parts, equipment, materials, products, and rejected items for domestic and export shipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will load and unload shipments, receive and verify materials against documentation, perform cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory, and complete required data entry to keep records up to date. The position also involves general labor tasks, including grinding, deburring, packaging, and assembly, while working closely with a small team to ensure efficient shipping and receiving operations. Responsibilities • Assemble and prepare outgoing parts, equipment, materials, products, and rejects for domestic and export shipment., • Load and unload shipments from trucks and other vehicles using industrial trucks or hand trucks., • Receive materials and verify them against receiving papers, purchase orders, bills of lading, invoices, and other records., • Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure incoming and outgoing items to confirm accuracy., • Determine the appropriate method of shipment based on order requirements and carrier options., • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons and containers., • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers as needed for shipments., • Insert items into containers securely and ensure proper packaging to meet shipment specifications., • Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates, cartons, or containers., • Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage or shipping documentation as required., • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and route items to the appropriate area., • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications, quality standards, and documentation requirements., • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels., • Process, print, and record all incoming and outgoing materials handled by outside vendors., • Maintain inventory records via computer, including data entry for receipts, shipments, and cycle counts., • Store and retrieve materials from designated storage locations in the warehouse or production area., • Complete work order cards and other required documentation accurately and on time., • Deliver or pick up materials from local vendors as needed to support production and shipping schedules., • Coordinate efforts and duties with other employees in the area to ensure smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment., • Perform general labor tasks including grinding, deburring, packaging, and assembly work as required., • Support production and construction-related activities as needed within the shipping and receiving and general labor scope., • Use hand tools and other basic equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks., • Participate in cycle counts and other inventory control activities to maintain accurate material records., • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area in the production and warehouse environment. Essential Skills • 45+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment., • Strong experience with general labor tasks including grinding, deburring, packaging, and assembly., • Hands-on experience in shipping and receiving operations, including loading, unloading, and order pulling., • Ability to accurately compare, count, weigh, and measure incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation., • Proficiency in determining shipment methods and preparing shipping labels and documentation., • Ability to assemble wooden and cardboard containers and properly package items for shipment., • Competence in examining incoming and outgoing shipments for damage, shortages, and specification compliance., • Experience maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, and shipping-related items., • Ability to operate industrial trucks and hand trucks safely to move and hoist shipments., • Basic computer skills for maintaining inventory, processing data entry, and printing records., • Ability to complete work order cards and other paperwork accurately and in a timely manner., • Capability to lift materials and products up to 50 pounds repeatedly in a warehouse and production setting., • Comfort working in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled production and warehouse environment., • Strong teamwork skills to coordinate efforts with a group of employees while also working independently., • Reliability in following schedules, meeting deadlines, and supporting shipping and receiving workflows. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in a production or construction-related environment performing general labor duties., • Familiarity with hand tools and basic equipment used in grinding, deburring, and assembly tasks., • Shipping and receiving within a manufacturing setting, including order pulling and material handling., • Ability to work extended hours when needed, including up to approximately 50 hours regularly., • Comfort working with a team of 25 employees, primarily collaborating with a core group of 710 team members., • Willingness to deliver or pick up materials from vendors and interact professionally with external partners., • Adaptability to changing shift times and operational needs as the facility expands., • Commitment to safety practices, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear. Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled production and warehouse environment, where temperatures vary with the seasons. You will work within a team of approximately 25 employees, primarily collaborating closely with a core group of 710 people to pull orders and perform general labor duties. The position involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 50 pounds and regular use of industrial trucks, hand trucks, and hand tools. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the safety-focused dress code. The standard schedule is first shift, running from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work that is rarely required. As weather cools, the shift transitions to 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, offering regular overtime of up to approximately 50 hours per week and a 30-minute paid lunch break Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmers Branch, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
