Job Description Job Title: TIG Welder / Fabricator Job Description This role focuses on precision TIG welding and fabrication of fully custom stainless steel parts for high-quality, clean-finish applications. You will read and interpret blueprints, cut and measure materials, form and fabricate components, and complete high-precision welds to achieve uniform, aesthetically clean welds. Responsibilities • Read and interpret welding blueprints and fabrication drawings to understand part requirements, tolerances, and weld specifications., • Cut, measure, and prepare materials according to prints, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specified dimensions and tolerances., • Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and other materials, • Build complete weldments from start to finish, including layout, fit-up, clamping, welding, and final test-fit as needed., • Weld in a variety of positions and directions, including vertical and horizontal, while maintaining high-quality weld appearance and integrity., • Work with a range of material thicknesses, • Execute a variety of weld joint types, such as fillet, butt, thick-to-thin, and round tube joints, while maintaining strong structural and cosmetic quality., • Fabricate with stainless steel materials, including proper handling, clamping, fixturing, and preparation to avoid damage or contamination., • Operate and set up basic forming and machining equipment, such as roll-formers, pan brakes, drill presses, and band saws, to support fabrication tasks., • Use hand tools safely and effectively, including angle grinders, drills, and air tools, for polishing welds and prepping materials., • Polish stainless steel using appropriate hand tools to achieve the required finish and meet cleanliness standards., • Inspect work during and after fabrication to verify accuracy to print, fit, and finish, and make adjustments or rework as needed., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment. Essential Skills • Proven experience as a TIG welder and fabricator with the ability to build parts from blueprint to finished weldment., • Strong TIG welding skills with the ability to control heat, • Ability to read, understand, and work from welding prints and fabrication blueprints with close attention to detail and tolerances., • Proficiency in welding a variety of material thicknesses, from 14-gauge to 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch., • Capability to weld in multiple positions and directions, maintaining quality in vertical, horizontal, and other orientations., • Experience welding a range of joint types, including fillet, butt, thick-to-thin, and round tube joints., • Hands-on experience fabricating with stainless steel materials, including proper handling, clamping, and preparation., • High attention to detail with the ability to build weldments accurately to print, hold tolerances, and test-fit assemblies as needed., • Safe and effective use of hand tools such as angle grinders, drills, and air tools for weld prep and finishing., • Ability to operate basic forming and machining equipment, including roll-formers, pan brakes, drill presses, and band saws. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working as a TIG welder and fabricator in a precision or custom fabrication environment., • Comfort working with custom, one-off, or small-batch parts where each project may differ from the last., • Strong problem-solving skills to adjust fit-up, clamping, and welding techniques to achieve the desired outcome., • Commitment to quality, cleanliness, and precision suitable for products used in sensitive applications Why Work Here? Daily work involves the use of hand tools, including angle grinders, drills, and air tools, as well as stainless steel polishing tools. The setting requires adherence to shop safety rules, proper use of personal protective equipment, and careful handling of materials to maintain cleanliness and product quality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peoria, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $34.00/hr.
