Job Description Job Purpose: The Corporate Accounting Manager will oversee key financial functions, including financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, budgeting, fixed asset accounting, and treasury management. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity of financial data and processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and partnering cross-functionally with operations, retail, and fuel teams. The Accounting Manager will play a key leadership role in upholding accounting standards, improving processes, and driving financial transparency across the organization. It will be imperative that this person is highly organized, detail-oriented, with demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. Promote and abide by the high standards of GEI and maintain regulatory and company compliances while upholding the highest standards of safety. Reports To: VP of Finance Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: · Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements. · Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, maintaining transparency and integrity in all financial reporting. · Responsible for Legal Entity accounting and reporting including financial statements for all GEI related entities · Develop and maintain comprehensive financial and operational reporting on daily, weekly and monthly basis to include, but not limited to, financial statements, scorecards, KPIs, and dashboards. · Own the annual budgeting process for total company along with field budget and each channel of trade · Oversee all aspects of fixed asset accounting, including the accurate recording, classification, and capitalization of assets. Maintain and update depreciation schedules and ensure timely reconciliation of the fixed asset ledger. Audit Coordination: · Manage the annual external audit, preparing necessary documentation and liaising with auditors to ensure a smooth and compliant audit process. · Address audit findings and implement necessary changes to improve processes and compliance. · Develop monthly policies and procedures to ensure company is audit ready at all times. Tax Management: · Assures timely completion of all required information for the Outside Tax/Accounting Firm to prepare corporate income tax returns. · Works with Tax/Accounting Firm to assure GEI is compliant with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to tax laws, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), federal acquisition regulations (FAR), and cost accounting standards (CAS). · Prepares and files monthly fuel and sales taxes for every required jurisdiction Cash Flow and Treasury: · Monitor daily cash balances and manage company fund transfers. · Develop forecast of cash flow needs and provide recommendations to improve liquidity. Additional Responsibilities: · Together with VP of Finance and COO establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data to protect the company's assets. · Work closely with VP of Finance and the accounting team to ensure smooth, accurate and timely month end closing and reconciliations. · Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports. · Serve as a financial business partner to operations, fuel, retail, and other business team by providing insights into financial performance and opportunities. · Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. · Establish a deep understanding of GEI business, internal processes, and systems. · Perform any other duties that are assigned by management. Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;. A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in the retail and/or fuel distribution industries is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and accounting principles. Proficiency in using accounting software, PDI experience preferred and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation. Proficient in MS Office Ability to take on initiatives and strategy execution. Have a strong passion for customer service while utilizing exceptional people skills and have a desire to excel in everything you do. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both written and verbal. Execution-focused and detail-oriented with great organizational & problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Uphold company standards in personal appearance, work ethic, and customer service.
