Job Description 2nd shift position! Job Title: Shipping Clerk Job Description The Shipping Clerk prepares, packages, and ships customer orders and finished goods accurately and efficiently. This role ensures that all outgoing shipments meet quality standards and customer requirements while maintaining precise shipping records and documentation. The Shipping Clerk works closely with production, quality, and customer service teams to support on-time delivery and smooth warehouse operations. Responsibilities • Organize sales orders by fulfillment priority based on customer deadlines and shipping type, and distribute them to Shipping Operators., • Submit orders for transportation using customer transportation management system (TMS) portals as needed., • Generate shipping documents, including bills of lading and carrier labels, using company software., • Coordinate pickups with carriers such as parcel, freight, and other transportation providers., • Maintain accurate shipping logs and records to support traceability and auditing requirements., • Inspect outgoing goods for damage, correct labeling, and compliance with quality and customer standards., • Communicate effectively with production, quality, and customer service teams to ensure on-time shipments., • Resolve shipment issues, including lost or late deliveries, and address customer shipment-related complaints., • Maintain a clean and organized shipping area in line with company 5S or housekeeping standards., • Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, materials tracking, and warehouse inventory control., • Prepare, package, and label products for shipment according to customer and carrier specifications., • Verify shipment contents against packing lists, invoices, or work orders to ensure accuracy before dispatch., • Perform material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, order pulling, and picking orders as needed., • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scan guns safely and efficiently, where authorized., • Complete data entry tasks related to shipping, inventory, and warehouse operations using computer systems., • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and shipping operations., • Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential function of the position. Essential Skills • Experience in material handling, including loading, unloading, order pulling, and picking orders., • Hands-on experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse environment., • Knowledge of warehouse operations, including warehouse inventory and inventory control., • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scan guns (forklift certification preferred or ability to become certified)., • Proficiency with computer systems and data entry for shipping documentation and inventory records., • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs safely and repeatedly as required by the role., • Strong attention to detail to verify shipment contents and ensure accurate documentation., • Effective communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and carriers., • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S or housekeeping standards., • Reliability and commitment to regular and predictable attendance. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Forklift certification or prior experience operating warehouse forklifts., • Experience using RF scan guns for inventory and order processing., • Familiarity with customer transportation management system (TMS) portals., • Experience generating bills of lading, carrier labels, and other shipping documents using company software., • Background in warehouse inventory control and cycle counting., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple orders and deadlines., • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve shipping issues such as delayed or lost shipments., • Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment. Work Environment The role is based in a clean, organized warehouse and shipping environment. The facility is not temperature controlled, but it remains comfortable and does not get excessively hot in the summer. The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. Team members use warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scan guns, and work with computer systems for data entry and shipping documentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marion, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $22.75/hr.
