Job Description About the Role: Cadence, Inc., located in Cranston, RI is seeking a Shipping Clerk on our f1st Shift (Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm)! The purpose of the Shipping & Receiving clerk positions is to assemble orders and prepare goods for shipment. Receives, unpacks, inspects, and stores incoming materials and supplies. Uses shipping records to verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders. Documents damages and discrepancies for future reimbursement and reconciliation. Qualifications: • Receive incoming shipments, verifying the accuracy of the items received against shipping documents, purchase orders, and invoices., • Inspect received goods for damage or defects and record any discrepancies. Report issues to the appropriate department or personnel., • Prepare items for shipping by packing, labeling, and arranging for transportation., • Verify Shipping Check shipping documents, such as packing lists and bills of lading, to ensure they match the contents of the shipment. Address any discrepancies or issues with suppliers or shipping companies., • Update and maintain accurate inventory records for both incoming and outgoing shipments. Use inventory management systems and software to track stock levels., • Coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and other logistics partners to schedule pickups and deliveries. Ensure that shipments are dispatched on time., • Process returns from customers, inspecting returned items for damage, and updating inventory records accordingly. Coordinate with the appropriate departments for restocking or replacement., • Communicate with suppliers regarding shipment status, delays, or any issues with received goods. Provide shipping information to customers and address inquiries or concerns., • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload shipments as needed., • Keep the shipping and receiving area clean, organized, and free of obstacles. Ensure that safety protocols are followed., • Adhere to shipping and receiving regulations, including customs regulations for international shipments. Stay informed about changes in shipping laws and requirements., • Document all incoming and outgoing shipments accurately. Generate reports on shipping and receiving activities as needed., • Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing, sales, and customer service, to ensure a smooth flow of goods and information., • Proficiency in using inventory management systems to track stock levels, update records, and manage the flow of goods in and out of the warehouse., • Familiarity with barcode scanning technology and the ability to use handheld barcode scanners or integrated scanning systems to track and manage inventory., • Knowledge of WMS software, which is designed to optimize warehouse operations, including inventory control, order processing, and shipment tracking., • Basic skills in using Microsoft Excel for data entry, creating spreadsheets, and maintaining inventory records. Microsoft Word may also be used for document creation and communication., • Accurate and efficient data entry skills for updating inventory records, processing shipments, and maintaining detailed documentation., • Proficiency in using email and communication tools to correspond with suppliers, customers, and other team members. Familiarity with platforms such as Microsoft Outlook., • Ability to navigate the internet for tracking shipments, accessing carrier websites, and researching product information., • Understanding how to manage electronic documents, including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping labels. This may involve using document management systems or file-sharing platforms., • Knowledge of order processing systems to receive and process customer orders, generate packing lists, and update order status., • Familiarity with software provided by shipping carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx) for generating shipping labels, tracking shipments, and managing shipping documents., • Proficiency in using collaboration tools for communication and coordination with other departments, such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, or similar platforms., • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems that integrate various business processes, including inventory management and order processing., • Ability to lift and carry packages, boxes, and other items, which may vary in weight. Some shipments may require the use of lifting equipment, while others may need to be handled manually., • Maneuvering carts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment often involves pushing and pulling. The ability to control and guide such equipment is important., • Regularly bending, stooping, and kneeling to access items on lower shelves, handle packages, or inspect shipments., • Extended periods of standing and walking are common in a warehouse setting. Shipping and receiving clerks may need to move around to access different areas or verify inventory., • Climbing ladders or using elevated platforms to reach items stored on high shelves may be necessary., • Performing repetitive motions, such as scanning barcodes, labeling, or packing, requires dexterity and the ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency., • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are essential for tasks like packing, labeling, and handling small or delicate items., • Warehouse environments can be physically demanding. This involves coordination, spatial awareness, and adherence to safety protocols., • Being agile and able to move quickly and safely in a dynamic environment, especially when handling time-sensitive shipments or adjusting to changing priorities., • Reaching and stretching to access items on shelves or within containers is a common requirement., • Good vision is important for reading shipping labels, verifying product details, and inspecting items for damage.
