Job Description Job Title: Pharmacy Inventory Technician (4-6 WEEK CONTRACT) Job Description The Pharmacy Inventory Technician will support a large-scale pharmacy inventory audit project by performing hands-on physical counts of medication inventory and accurately documenting results. Working on-site in a pharmacy environment, this role focuses on detailed row-by-row inventory counts, receiving and sorting shipments and prescriptions, and entering all inventory data into the pharmacy database in alignment with established procedures and compliance standards. This position does not involve any patient interaction, dispensing, or compounding activities and is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who enjoys structured, production-based work. Responsibilities • Perform hands-on physical counts of medication inventory throughout the pharmacy, completing detailed row-by-row verification of quantities., • Receive incoming inventory and shipments, including medications and related supplies, and verify contents against packing lists or purchase orders., • Sort and organize shipments and prescriptions, ensuring medications are properly labeled, stored, and staged according to pharmacy procedures., • Enter all inventory data accurately into the pharmacy database, including quantities, product details, and any adjustments identified during audits., • Support inventory control processes such as cycle counts and reconciliation activities to help restore and maintain accurate inventory records., • Apply working knowledge of brand-name and generic medications to correctly identify products during counting, receiving, and data entry tasks., • Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and compliance standards while handling medications and managing inventory records., • Maintain a steady, production-based work pace while sustaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail., • Identify basic discrepancies or issues in inventory and escalate or communicate findings to appropriate pharmacy staff as needed., • Adhere to assigned schedules, arrive on time, and complete tasks reliably with a strong sense of accountability., • Perform light lifting and routine physical tasks required to move, stock, and organize medication inventory., • Work varying shifts and schedules, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support inventory audit timelines., • Valid pharmacy technician certification and licensure as required by the state of Tennessee and state regulations., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Previous pharmacy experience required, with one or more years of long-term care experience preferred., • Proficiency in data entry for accurate and efficient recording of inventory information., • Experience with inventory, inventory control, and cycle counts in a pharmacy or similar environment., • Ability to perform order entry tasks related to inventory and fulfillment processes., • Working knowledge of brand-name and generic medications to support accurate identification and documentation., • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English., • Ability to work at a steady, production-based or moderate speed while maintaining accuracy., • Strong attention to detail and basic analytical and problem-solving skills., • Dependable, punctual, and accountable work habits., • Ability to perform light lifting and routine physical tasks associated with handling inventory., • Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules, including evenings and weekends., • One or more years of long-term care pharmacy experience preferred., • Knowledge of brand-name and generic medications considered a plus beyond the basic working knowledge required., • Experience in pharmacy fulfillment and inventory management environments is beneficial., • Comfort working with production-based metrics and goals. This role is based on-site in a pharmacy environment that focuses on fulfillment and inventory management rather than direct patient care. The Pharmacy Inventory Technician works primarily in medication storage areas, stock rooms, and fulfillment spaces, handling packaged medications and related supplies. The position involves frequent standing, walking through aisles, and performing light lifting while counting, receiving, and organizing inventory. Work is production-based, with a steady pace and clear procedures to follow, and requires consistent attention to detail when entering information into the pharmacy database and other inventory systems. Schedules may vary and can include evenings and weekends, and technicians may be required to report during inclement weather to support critical inventory operations. The environment is structured, process-driven, and compliance-focused, with clear expectations for reliability, accuracy, and professional conduct. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
