Job Description We are partnering with an established employee-owned design consultancy that operates on a global scale to identify an energetic Business Development Manager who will drive expansion within the Consumer Goods (CPG/FMCG) market throughout North America. This represents an exceptional chance to establish and oversee sales initiatives for an organization that collaborates with prominent international brands on breakthrough projects spanning science, technology, production, packaging, and environmental sustainability. In this Business Development Manager role, you will take charge of expanding sales activities within the consumer goods industry with primary emphasis on the North American market. You will discover fresh business prospects, collaborate directly with the FMCG/CPG Department Head, and assist account managers, project directors, and technical experts during the entire sales cycle. This position merges strategic planning with direct business development activities, demanding both innovative thinking and capability to engage with large international corporations. Key Responsibilities: • Create compelling sales materials and detailed account strategies for each client, • Support strategic planning development and execution for the CPG/FMCG business unit, • Offer specialized knowledge during sales activities and partner with technical experts, • Develop thorough understanding of complete service offerings and capability portfolio, • Keep current market awareness to guide strategic direction and sales priorities, • Oversee CRM platforms and deliver consistent pipeline projections, • Initiate targeted sales campaigns to generate prospects with existing and potential CPG partners, • Convert customer challenges, project briefs, and proposal requests into defined goals with measurable outcomes, • Sustain regular communication with potential clients via email, phone calls, virtual meetings, and on-site visits, • Demonstrated success with >$2.5M in yearly profitable sales revenue, • Strategic sales management expertise including CRM systems, forecasting, and proposal development, • Outstanding relationship development abilities and strong emotional intelligence for sustained client relationships, • Extensive technical consulting background in CPG/FMCG with significant multinational sales experience, • Production, packaging, and sustainability expertise within FMCG/CPG settings, • Solid business experience working with international clients in beauty, beverage, consumer health, food, snacks, and home care sectors, • Well-developed professional network spanning US and/or European markets Preferred: • Background in technology startups or new product innovation environments, • 15-20 years of advancing experience in technical consulting or CPG sales roles, • Management experience to support organizing and guiding teams focused on CPG expansion, • Experience with eco-friendly materials, ingredients, and cutting-edge processes, • Variable Compensation: Up to $100,000 potential, • Base Salary: $150,000, • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, • 401(k) retirement plan with 6% company matching, • Life and Disability insurance, • Tuition assistance and professional development opportunities, • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA), • Employee Assistance Program (EAP), • Wellness initiatives and corporate discount programs, • Travel expense coverage Work Environment Location: Raleigh, NC preferred, but open to candidates across East Coast Work Style: Hybrid/Remote flexibility Travel: Approximately 25% travel (including ~1 week international per month for client meetings and conferences) Special Requirements: Ability to work across time zones with UK headquarters team Why This Role?
