Job Description Asher + Rye is a design-forward lifestyle shop and cafe at the corner of Jones and Whitaker in downtown Savannah. Our café is a daily gathering space within our shop for neighbors, students, creatives, and visitors. We serve coffee, tea, smoothies, pastries, soups, and simple seasonal offerings. And we're growing! We're looking for a confident, experienced Coffee Shop Manager to lead our café team with clarity, consistency, and energy. This role is for someone who has managed a fast-paced café, restaurant, or bar environment and understands how to balance warmth with standards. Our baristas are essential to our business. We need a leader who can motivate a team, hold high expectations, and create a positive, accountable culture on the floor. Full-time preferred, part-time considered. Flexible availability required. We are open seven days a week. WHAT YOU WILL DO Lead the café team • Manage baristas during high-volume serve periods, • Set the tone on the floor with calm, confident leadership in partnership with our shop managers, • Hold café team members accountable to performance and service standards, • Coach, train, and motivate staff, • Address performance and conduct issues directly, consistently, and professionally, • Own staff scheduling, adjusting coverage based on traffic patterns, seasonality, and performance needs, • Identify staffing needs and participate in hiring and training new baristas Maintain operational excellence • Own day-to-day café operations including purchasing and management, vendor relationships, cost control, and maintaining appropriate stock levels, • Uphold and enforce high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and organization, • Ensure consistency in food and drink quality and presention, • Manage prep, downtime tasks, and cleaning standards, • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency during slower periods Create a strong guest experience • Lead café operations during in-store events, private functions, and VIP gatherings, • Ensure every guest feels welcomed and cared for, • Maintain high service standards even during peak hours, • Support a warm but structured work environment Support growth • Support the expansion of café offerings, including overseeing light food preparation and new menu initiatives, • Contribute ideas for expanding customer engagement across the café experience including promotions, merchandise, and in-store initiatives, • Help prepare the team for future growth and scale, • Be proactive about improving systems, not just maintaining them WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR • 2-5 years experience managing a café, restaurant, or bar, • ServSafe certificated (or willing to obtain certification upon hire), • Comfortable leading a team during high-pressure service windows, • Direct, confident, and fair, • Proactive and solution-oriented, • Energized by hospitality and team culture, • Detail-oriented with high standards, • Comfortable giving feedback and making decisions, • Excited to work in a beautiful, design-forward space, • You are not afraid to step in, take charge, and set expectations clearly WHAT WE OFFER • Competitive pay based on experience, • Full-time or part-time opportunity, • Flexible scheduling (weekend availability required), • Free drink during shifts, • Employee discount in shop and cafe, • Opportunity to grow with an expanding brand, • A bright, supportive, creative environment WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS The café is central to the Asher + Rye experience.
