Retail Store Lead Stella & Dot • Burlingame Avenue, Burlingame, CA Part-Time • Start: July 2026 • New Store Opening About Stella & Dot Stella & Dot is a mission-driven, female-founded jewelry and accessories brand. About the Role This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up — and to help rebuild a beloved brand in an entirely new channel. We’re opening our new flagship Stella & Dot boutique on Burlingame Avenue, and the store is more than a store: it’s our retail flagship, a daily content studio for the brand, and home to our company office and e-commerce fulfillment center in the back of house. You’ll work alongside our General Manager and fulfillment team every day — a founding-team seat most retail leaders never get. You’ll join in July, ahead of our late-summer grand opening, to oversee the build-out, set up the POS, merchandise the store and hire a PT associate. Once the doors open, you’ll be the face of Stella & Dot in Burlingame: selling on the floor, booking and hosting community give-back events, and creating daily social content. You’ll often run the store on your own — opening, selling, closing, and creating content between customers — which is exactly what makes this role a true ownership opportunity for the right person. Location: Burlingame Avenue, Burlingame, CA 94010 Start Date: July 2026 (pre-opening; grand opening August 2026) Employment: Approx. 20–35 hours/week, flexing up around events and peak retail periods. Strong potential to convert to full-time. Schedule: Flexible availability required, including weekends and evenings. You must be able to work Saturday/Sunday and will be a keyholder opening and closing the store on weekends. Pay Range: $25–$30 per hour, plus a bonus tied to booked give-back events and store performance. Reports To: Chief Marketing and Operations Officer Pre-Opening Responsibilities (July – Grand Opening) Before the doors open, you will: • Serve as the on-site point of contact throughout construction and store build-out on Burlingame Avenue, • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and Stella & Dot leadership to ensure the space is delivered on time and on brand, • Set up and configure the POS system; ensure payment processing, inventory tracking, and reporting are fully operational before opening day, • Organize and merchandise opening inventory — including fashion jewelry, fine jewelry, accessories, apparel, and handbags, • Recruit, interview, and hire a part-time sales associate aligned with the Stella & Dot brand, culture, and mission, to start once the store is open, • Develop deep knowledge of Stella & Dot products and train your associate on jewelry knowledge, care, styling, and brand storytelling, • Establish procedures for loss prevention and cash management, • Begin building your community event pipeline before opening day — a target list of local schools, nonprofits, teams, and organizations, • Plan and execute a grand-opening launch event Ongoing ResponsibilitiesCommunity Events & Give-Back Program — the Heart of This Role Our store grows through community, not just walk-in traffic. You will own our give-back event program: • Build and maintain a pipeline of local schools, PTAs, sports teams, nonprofits, and community organizations across Burlingame and the surrounding Peninsula, • Proactively pitch, book, and host in-store give-back shopping events, where a percentage of event proceeds is donated to the partner organization — with a target of 4–6 events per month once the store is established, • Host styling sessions, trunk shows, and private shopping events that grow the community and drive revenue, • Follow up with event attendees to convert them into lasting clients and grow our local mailing list, • Represent Stella & Dot at community events and fundraisers on and around Burlingame Avenue Sales & Clientele • Drive and own daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets, • Lead by example on the sales floor — model exceptional styling consultations and jewelry layering techniques, • Provide exceptional customer service, including returns, exchanges, and special requests, • Build and maintain client relationships with proactive follow-up and personalized outreach; develop strategies for growing local mailing lists and email outreach Content Creation & Social Media The store doubles as a visual studio for the brand, producing daily content to share online. You will: • Create daily social content as part of the natural rhythm of the job — styling videos, try-ons, new-arrival features, event recaps, and behind-the-scenes moments, • Be comfortable and confident on camera for our Instagram and other channels, • Stage and shoot product and store content that meets brand standards, • Collaborate with our marketing team on the content calendar, trends, and promotions Team Leadership • Lead and mentor your part-time sales associate; foster a warm, supportive, high-performing culture rooted in empowerment and collaboration, • Build weekly schedules to ensure strong coverage during peak hours, weekends, and in-store events Jewelry & Visual Merchandising • Maintain expert-level product knowledge across all Stella & Dot jewelry collections, • Oversee visual merchandising, seasonal display refreshes, and trend-driven product groupings in collaboration with our Design Director, • Manage jewelry maintenance, the look of the store, daily cleaning, and security protocols, • Process returns, repairs, and warranty claims per Stella & Dot policy, • Coordinate promotional events with the CMO and develop signage and outreach for promotions Operations • Manage daily store opening and closing procedures as a keyholder, • Handle POS transactions, end-of-day reconciliation, and cash management, • Maintain strong shrink-prevention and loss-prevention standards, • Ensure the store is consistently clean, organized, and aligned with brand standards, • Share the building with our back-of-house team: the rear of the store operates as our company office and e-commerce fulfillment center, so you’ll collaborate daily with the General Manager and fulfillment teamQualifications & Requirements, • 2–4 years of retail experience, ideally in fashion, jewelry, accessories, or lifestyle brands, • Proven top sales performance, plus demonstrated experience with outbound outreach — booking events, building local partnerships, or community business development, • Comfortable on camera and experienced in creating social content, • Demonstrated passion for fashion, personal styling, and helping clients find pieces they love; a great sense of style with a strong eye, • Proven ability to hire, onboard, train, and motivate retail sales talent, • Strong knowledge of — or genuine curiosity about — jewelry: materials, care, trends, and styling, • Self-directed and reliable: comfortable running the store independently, including opening and closing as a keyholder, • Proficiency with POS systems and basic retail reporting tools, • Excellent verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, • Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and peak retail periods, • A fun, collaborative, positive, and energetic spirit who contributes to a creative work culture, • Deep alignment with the Stella & Dot mission: empowering women through community, confidence, and beautiful designCompensation & Benefits, • $25–$30 per hour, • Bonus eligibility tied to give-back events booked and hosted, plus store performance, • Generous employee discount on all Stella & Dot jewelry and accessories, • A founding-team seat working directly alongside company leadership as we rebuild a global, mission-driven, female-founded brand in a new channel, • A collaborative, warm team culture on one of the Bay Area’s most beloved shopping streetsHow to Apply We’d love to hear from you.
