The Town of Timnath is launching a brand-new GIS Analyst role to shape the future of our geospatial capabilities. As the architect of all Town GIS resources, you’ll build and maintain the data that drives smarter planning, asset management, and transparency across Community Development, Public Works, Parks, and Administration. The GIS Analyst supports town operations by developing, maintaining, and analyzing geospatial data that powers planning, capital programming, and asset management decisions across departments (Community Development, Public Works, Parks, and Administration). This role ensures accurate, accessible, and actionable spatial information for internal stakeholders and the public. This is a new position that will be organized under the Town’s Information Technology department and will be the primary architect of all Town GIS resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Data Development & Maintenance: Create, maintain, and update datasets for land use, zoning, parcels, transportation, parks, facilities, and environmental layers in enterprise geodatabases., • Asset Management Enablement: Build authoritative asset inventories and schemas; integrate inspection/condition data to support lifecycle planning, maintenance prioritization, and CIP budgeting. Work with field crews to ensure data sets are updated and complete., • Automation & QA/QC: Develop repeatable ETL workflows (Python/ArcPy, ModelBuilder), enforce data standards, topology rules, and QA/QC checks., • Integration: Import/export across CAD, GPS/mobile data collection, and third-party systems, collaborating with other agencies as needed., • Web Mapping & Dashboards: Publish secure services, web maps/apps, and dashboards (ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, Experience/Field Maps) for internal users and public transparency., • Collaboration & Support: Partner with planners, engineers, finance, and field crews; provide user support, documentation, and training; participate in emergency operations mapping as needed., • Other duties may be assigned from time to time; this list is not meant to be all inclusive. QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience with transportation asset data models, condition assessment, and CIP support., • Experience with versioned enterprise geodatabases and web services administration., • Familiarity with Esri Utility Network and mobile field data collection (Field Maps/Survey123)., • Must pass post offer background screening. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s in Geography, GIS, Planning, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)., • 2+ years professional GIS experience building and maintaining enterprise datasets (ArcGIS Pro/AGOL/ArcGIS Enterprise)., • Proficiency with SQL in a relational environment (e.g., SQL Server or Postgres/PostGIS), geoprocessing, and cartography., • Hands-on Python/ArcPy or ModelBuilder for data automation.
