As we continue to improve and grow, we are seeking a proven California executive leader to join our organization as Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role will serve as the first-in-command of the business, building a team, providing strategic and operational leadership across all dealership operations while partnering closely with ownership to drive performance, growth, and long-term success. Position Summary The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the overall operational performance of Bobcat Central. The COO provides leadership, direction, and oversight across all dealership functions, including equipment sales, service, parts, rental, and administration. The COO will drive operational excellence, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement while ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision and core values. This executive will lead a multi-location team, establish performance expectations, develop future leaders, and implement processes that support scalable growth across the organization. Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership • Serve as the organization's first-in-command and a trusted advisor to the Owners/President., • Translate business objectives into actionable operational strategies and measurable results., • Lead the execution of company-wide initiatives that improve operational efficiency, profitability, and customer experience., • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement., • Partner with ownership on long-term planning, business strategy, and organizational development. Operational Management • Provide direct leadership and oversight for all dealership operations across multiple locations., • Ensure alignment and consistency in operational standards, processes, and customer experience., • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor performance across all departments., • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, service delivery, and profitability., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that support operational excellence. Sales Operations • Partner with sales leadership to maximize revenue growth, market share increase, and customer retention., • Ensure effective execution of sales strategies and operational support processes., • Monitor performance against sales, market share and profitability objectives. Service & Parts Operations • Collaborate with service and parts leadership to maximize department performance., • Improve service and parts absorption, technician productivity, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency., • Ensure effective parts inventory management., • Ensure timely control of WIP and service delivery processes., • Support workforce planning and talent development within technical and service-related functions. Rental Operations • Improve operational efficiency throughout rental departments in all stores., • Support strategic inventory management and fleet utilization., • Determine new product lines to add to rental fleet., • Improve rental absorption. Financial & Business Performance • Responsible for company profitability and operational performance., • Review financial results, operational metrics, and business trends to identify improvement opportunities., • Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual business planning processes., • Drive disciplined management of expenses, resources, and investments., • Ensure operational decisions support long-term financial objectives. Leadership & Talent Development • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing leaders throughout the organization., • Promote employee development, succession planning, and leadership growth., • Partner with leadership teams to attract, retain, and engage top talent., • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures across departments. Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, safety standards, and dealership requirements., • Support risk management initiatives that protect employees, customers, assets, and the reputation of the business., • Champion workplace safety and operational excellence throughout the organization. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting-Finance, or a related field., • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience with significant operational responsibility., • Experience doing business in California., • Proven experience leading multi-site operations with responsibility for financial and operational performance., • Demonstrated success driving business results through people, processes, and accountability., • Strong understanding of operational management, financial performance, budgeting, and business metrics., • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills., • Ability to lead equipment dealership organizations., • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between dealership locations. Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related graduate degree., • Experience within compact construction equipment, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment, dealership, rental, or equipment service industries., • Experience leading organizations with multiple business units, and locations., • Strong background in sales, service, parts, and rental operations., • Demonstrated success leading organizational efficiency, growth, operational transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives. In accordance with California law, the salary for this position is listed above. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.
