Job Description Job Summary: The NDT Quality Specialist III performs NDT and Welding Inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures of incoming materials, parts and components used in the manufacture and fabrication of partially assembled or finished components. Experienced-level position – demonstrates the skills and knowledge to set up and calibrate equipment, to conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications in accordance with procedures. The Specialist III shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method for which qualified and should exercise assigned responsibility for on the job training and guidance of NDT Level I personnel. The Specialist III shall be able to organize and report nondestructive test results. What can HOLT CAT offer you? • A competitive salary, commensurate with your experience and competencies., • A comprehensive and robust benefits program that includes complete health care, 401(k) matching & Profit-Sharing plan (ROTH and traditional), paid holidays, and a front-loaded PTO program., • A Tuition Reimbursement program to support the pursuit of accredited college courses., • Sets up and calibrates non-destructive testing equipment, • Conducts tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of Inspection, • Establishes techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations, • Applies testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results, • Documents, organizes, and reports test results and enforces rework, • Conducts and documents process and system audits using written procedures as audit standards, • Maintains all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner, • Monitors critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration, • Participates in the construction and/or revision of SOPs for the inspection function, • Assists in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol, and checklists, • Evaluates problems and makes initial recommendations for possible corrective action, • Participates in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc., • Perform specialized inspections, • Provides instruction and training to others, • Works closely with the client to identify and remove obstacles, • Participates in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc., • Assists in qualifying welding personnel, • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance, • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards, • Knowledge of welding and welding inspections, • Knowledge of safety practices as they pertain to welding, cutting, and joining processes, • Knowledge of Non-destructive Testing methods, • Knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations, • Knowledge of dimensional inspection equipment/hand tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, • Computer skills including MS Office products, • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, • Must perform welding inspections IAW welding specifications, • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interprets results, • Ability to use standard non-destructive testing tools and calibration devices, • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and schematics, • Ability to provide input and suggestions to bring a greater sense of quality to both internal and external customers, • Ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards, • Ability and desire to continue ongoing training and education in order to maintain certifications and develop new skills and gain knowledge, • Three or more years of experience required; more than five years of work-related experience preferred, • High school diploma or equivalent with specialized/technical training in Welding Technology and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), • Strong welding background with 10+ years’ experience holding multiple welding certifications, • Experience working in heavy construction equipment environment, • NDT Level II in multiple NDT methods, • NDT Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 required; Level 3 preferred, • NDT Visual Testing Leve 2 required; Level 3 preferred, • NDT Ultrasonic Testing Level 2 required; Level 3 preferred, • NDT Penetrant Testing Level 2 required; Level 3 preferred, • Multiple Welding Certifications required, • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
