Job Description IT Services Engineer COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Expected Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 (Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.) Typical hours align with standard business operations, with flexibility as needed to support critical systems, projects, or university‑wide events. Occasional after‑hours or on‑call support may be required. ABOUT THE ROLE The IT Services Engineer plays a key role in designing, maintaining, and improving the core technology systems that support the university’s academic, research, and administrative mission. This position combines hands‑on technical expertise with service leadership, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and responsive to the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The IT Services Engineer also helps the institution scale responsibly—improving service delivery while supporting innovation, compliance, and long‑term sustainability. WHAT YOU WILL DO These responsibilities represent the essential functions of the role. • Design, administer, and continuously improve enterprise IT systems across identity, networking, devices, servers, and cloud services, • Manage account lifecycle processes, including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding, • Maintain campus infrastructure including servers, backups, networks, and core platforms, • Lead systems provisioning, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting to optimize performance and reliability, • Serve as an escalation point for complex or high‑impact technical issues, • Design, configure, and evolve IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools to improve service quality and efficiency, • Develop and maintain clear technical and end‑user documentation and knowledge‑base resources, • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to implement technology solutions that align with institutional goals, • Mentor and support technician‑level staff through guidance, knowledge sharing, and best practices, • Support technology needs for university events, ceremonies, and special initiatives, • Participate in project planning, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives, • Help ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and institutional policies WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field or equivalent professional experience, • 5 or more years of experience in systems administration, IT services, or enterprise technical support, • Demonstrated experience administering enterprise systems and infrastructure, • Working knowledge of identity and access management, directory services, and SSO (e.g., Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace), • Experience collaborating effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to analyze complex problems and design practical, secure solutions, • Commitment to customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience working in higher education or similarly complex environments, • Atlassian Jira Administrator and/or Jira Service Management certification, • Experience with MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf), • Familiarity with networking, information security frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., FERPA, NIST), • Hands‑on scripting or command‑line troubleshooting experience (Windows, macOS, networking systems), • Experience contributing to ITSM maturity and service design, • Relevant technical certifications or ongoing professional development ABOUT ROCKY MOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMU) is a graduate‑level institution dedicated to advancing healthcare education, research, and service.
