American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/23/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 23, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Acute care hospital setting, Surgical Acute unit (Tower 8) — a 30-bed Trauma, Ortho, and Surgical telemetry floor, • Common patient diagnoses include post-op transplants (day 1), Whipple procedures, spine, ortho joints, and trauma cases — with a large volume of transplant and Whipple patients, • Patient ratio of 1:4–5, • Philips telemetry monitoring equipment used; ventilator support includes BiPAP and CPAP, • Charting via Cerner EMR, • 12-hour night shifts, • 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week period, • Holiday coverage integrated into permanent staff rotation, • Floating required to Observation, VMU, T6, T5, 6N, 5N, and other Med/Surg and Telemetry units, • SWAT RN (IV Team), RT, and Pharmacy available 24/7, • Navy scrubs requiredRequirements, • Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required, • Level 1 Trauma experience required, • Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation; candidates have 2 attempts, • Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license, • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's licenseAdditional Information, • Responsibilities include caring for post-surgical, trauma, orthopedic, and transplant patients in a high-acuity telemetry environment, • 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided, • Day 1 of orientation includes a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering sterile Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; maintaining sterile field is critical — nurses have been released during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field, • Additional orientation covers lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational only), • Charge RN on unit does not take a patient assignment; 2 nurse aides on days and 1 on nights, • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered, • Natural hair color required; facial piercings are not permitted, • Men must be clean-shaven (for fit test compliance) With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
