Job DescriptionJob Title: Diesel Maintenance Technician Job Description This role offers the opportunity to work as a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic in a shop environment, performing preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on a diverse fleet that includes automobiles, light- and heavy-duty trucks, vans, forklifts, trailers, and material handling equipment. You will work with a high degree of independence, leverage leading-edge diagnostic technology, and support both traditional diesel and emerging alternative fuel vehicles. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and repairs on a wide range of fleet equipment, including automobiles, trucks, vans, forklifts, trailers, and material handling equipment., • Work with a high degree of independence while following established maintenance and safety procedures., • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and programs such as voice-guided PM applications, Noregon diagnostics, Uptake predictive analytics, TAAS, and other high-tech platforms., • Perform advanced diagnostics across multiple original equipment (OE) platforms, including Volvo, International, Freightliner, Maxon, electric vehicles, and material handling equipment., • Carry out high-level repairs on engines and drivelines, after-treatment and emissions systems, and vehicle safety systems for class 6–8 diesel vehicles and other fleet assets., • Adapt to and build repair and maintenance capabilities for alternative fuel applications such as electric vehicles, compressed natural gas (CNG), and B100., • Diagnose failures of vehicles and systems, disassemble components, repair or replace parts, and reassemble to proper operating condition., • Focus heavily on air brake and hydraulic systems, performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments., • Use diagnostic equipment and platforms (e.g., Noregon, Snap-on, Nexiq, Altel) to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues., • Perform trailer maintenance and repair, including air brake, pneumatic, electrical, and structural components., • Maintain accurate documentation and records, including vehicle service records, PM checklists, and pre-trip inspection checklists., • Follow all safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties., • Handle physical aspects of the job, including lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating tools and parts as needed (with or without an accommodation).Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of diesel maintenance or repair experience., • Hands-on experience working on diesel engines and class 6–8 diesel vehicles., • Proven experience working on brake systems, including hydraulic and air brakes., • Trailer maintenance and repair experience, including air brake and pneumatic systems., • Experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair., • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and platforms such as Noregon, Snap-on, Nexiq, Altel, or similar tools., • Experience performing after-treatment and emissions repairs on class 6–8 diesel vehicles., • Experience performing driveline repairs on class 6–8 diesel vehicles., • Brakes certification., • Ability to maintain accurate service records and documentation., • Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling tools and parts (with or without an accommodation)., • Possession of a personal set of basic hand tools suitable for diesel and fleet maintenance work., • Ability to pass a Forklift Driving Skills test, if applicable., • Minimum age of 18 years.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience or formal training involving hydraulic and air brake systems., • Familiarity with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance on fleet vehicles and trailers., • Comfort working with predictive analytics and voice-guided PM applications., • Interest or experience in alternative fuel vehicles such as electric vehicles, CNG, and B100., • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus; support is available to obtain a CDL in the future., • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with shop personnel when needed., • Strong troubleshooting mindset and willingness to learn new technologies and platforms., • Attention to detail in both repair quality and documentation.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a shop environment, working primarily Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with some additional hours as needed, typically totaling about 45 to 55 hours per week. You will work around a diverse fleet that includes automobiles, light- and heavy-duty trucks, vans, forklifts, trailers, and material handling equipment. The role involves regular use of diagnostic platforms such as Noregon, Snap-on, Nexiq, Altel, and other ergonomic, high-tech equipment provided by the company, while you bring your own basic hand tools. The work is hands-on and physically active, requiring lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling tools and components (with or without an accommodation), all while wearing provided uniforms, PPE, and appropriate work boots in a safety-focused shop setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Palm Beach, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $34.00/hr.
