Job Description Summary The Food Safety & Sanitation Manager - 3rd Shift in West Palm Beach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sanitation, equipment setup, and compliance with food safety protocols within the facility. This leadership role ensures that cleaning, sanitization, and equipment preparation operations are executed effectively, safely, and in alignment with SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, GFSI, and internal quality standards. The Manager supervises and develops the sanitation team, leads audits, maintains documentation, and works cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and quality assurance to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. Key Responsibilities • Lead and supervise the sanitation and equipment setup team, including training, scheduling, performance management, and continuous development., • Oversee all cleaning, sanitizing, and setup activities for food processing equipment and facility areas, ensuring readiness for production operations., • Develop and maintain sanitation protocols in alignment with regulatory and third-party audit standards (FDA, USDA, GFSI, etc.)., • Conduct internal audits, inspections, and verifications to ensure sanitation effectiveness, compliance, and readiness for QA and food safety checks., • Manage the use, storage, and inventory of sanitation chemicals and ensure proper handling in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)., • Monitor Clean in Place (CIP) and Clean Out of Place (COP) operations and support team members with technical troubleshooting., • Maintain and analyze sanitation records, chemical usage logs, and cleaning schedules for accuracy and regulatory compliance., • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production to coordinate sanitation timing, setup needs, and repair work that affects sanitation processes., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure food safety., • Promote a culture of safety, hygiene, and accountability by enforcing PPE protocols and hazard prevention policies., • Respond to and investigate sanitation-related non-conformances, customer complaints, or audit findings and implement corrective actions., • Ensure the proper function, cleanliness, and readiness of all valves, pumps, and food processing components., • Serve as a key point of contact during third-party audits, inspections, or customer visits involving sanitation processes., • Participate in the development of the department’s budget, including labor planning, chemical procurement, and equipment needs., • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred., • 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing sanitation, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role., • Strong knowledge of SSOPs, GMPs, HACCP, and food safety compliance standards., • Proven leadership ability with experience managing diverse teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment., • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, sanitation logs, chemical labels, and safety protocols., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement., • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn facility-specific systems (e.g., sanitation scheduling tools or ERP systems).
