Position Overview The purpose of this position is to serve as a member of the Gift Planning (GP) team and deliver gift, tax, estate, and charitable planning information through presentations, illustrations, and other deliverables to current and prospective givers, NCF and affiliate staff and various other constituents to encourage and facilitate tax-wise charitable giving solutions by performing the following duties personally. The Gift Planning Attorney will deliver such services in a customer-service centered, highly professional and technically accurate manner while operating within NCF's policies, processes, and structure and in coordination with NCF's other internal departments. This position is hybrid based out of the office in Alpharetta, GA. Reports to: Manager, Gift Planning Team Management/Supervision: None Duties & Responsibilities Delivery of Gift Planning Services • Communicates with givers, prospects, and National Christian Foundation (NCF) and affiliate staff and other constituents regarding gift, estate, and income tax planning issues upon referral from NCF relationship managers (RMs), whether national or local, • In coordination with RMs, develops new and enhances existing relationships with major givers and their advisors by providing high quality direct contact, • Consistently delivers Gift Planning (GP) services with high technical competence in a customer-service friendly manner within the GP service standards, • Analyzes a broad range of federal and state laws and IRS regulations affecting gift, estate, and income tax planning, as well as the operation of not-for-profit organizations, • Develops, cultivates, and maintains strong relationships with other NCF and affiliate staff with whom GP Attorney regularly serves and interacts, particularly national and local RMs, Complex Gift Solutions team, and NCF's General Counsel team, • Intentionally operates within GP Team structure and guidelines and NCF's policies, procedures, and processes, • Develops GP proposals, deliverables, illustrations, templates, articles, etc., for personal use and use of GP Team, • Researches technical legal issues related to charitable giving, as needed, • Assures proper and timely input of assigned giver activity in Salesforce, whether personally or as delegated to other GP support staff, • Regularly participates in weekly GP Team meetings, periodic GP R&D meetings, and other meetings as reasonably requested, • Explores new environments for opportunities to expand reach of GP services consistent with NCF's policies, procedures, and processes in the furtherance of NCF's mission and vision, • Supports and assists with the development, organization, and implementation of a GP Team database of Christian estate, gift, and tax planning attorneys for referral purposes, • In coordination and collaboration with NCF's MarCom team, assists, identifies, recommends, and develops GP marketing/communications offerings, including articles, concept sheets, GP proposals and presentations, other writings, online offerings, e-newsletters, etc., • In collaboration with the GP Team and RMs, participates in development and implementation of training plans for NCF and various constituents which require involvement of GP team, • Participates in the training plan noted above as a presenter for the GP Team, as needed, • Assists with and supports development, use and organization of technical and other presentations by the GP Team for various constituencies, including sharing all presentations with the GP administrative team for proper storage and organization, • Develops and maintains an excellent working knowledge and understanding of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to gift, estate, and income tax planning to permit delivery of GP services offered by NCF with a high degree of technical accuracy and competency, • Maintains good standing with various state or other bar associations, including maintenance of minimum CLE requirements, • Informs Manager, Gift Planning Team of technical, legal, or other training needed to maintain competencies to achieve individual and departmental goals and objectives, • Develops and maintains an excellent working knowledge and understanding of NCF's innovative giving offerings, • Stays informed on economic, legal, regulatory, and compliance issues that may affect GP, • Demonstrates a commitment to personal, spiritual and professional maturity through regular prayer, study of Scripture, and other Christian learning mechanisms, • Actively integrates biblical principles in day-to-day behavior, exhibiting integrity and strong moral character, • Models daily faithfulness to God and love and service to others, • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars, workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have reliable attendance. Christ Centered • Profession that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, • Lifestyle that is consistent with the teachings of Jesus and the Bible, • Agreement and support of NCF's Statement of Faith, • A Bachelor's degree is required, • At least 10 years of practicing law required with a primary focus on client interaction in income tax, business planning, estate planning, or similar experience, • Demonstrated experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families, including direct interaction with givers, donors, and their professional advisors (attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors) strongly preferred, • Thorough knowledge and understanding of basic income tax and estate planning issues, as well as strategies, techniques, products, and services related to encouraging and enhancing charitable giving, • Working knowledge of charitable giving laws and other related areas of the law, including IRS laws and regulations, • Working knowledge of charitable gift planning marketing and educational tools and solutions, • Computer skills: experience using MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), intranet, internet, GP software (Crescendo or PG Calc)., • Proven aptitude for “real time” problem diagnosis and solving, • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision., • Skilled in writing reports and professional business correspondence., • Relationally intuitive, customer-service communication style, both written and verbal., • Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines., • Able to understand and improve systems and processes., • Ability to set goals, plan their execution, and ensure timely completion., • Ability to find pragmatic solutions, if available, and to ensure laws, ethics and NCF values are carried out., • Adaptable/Flexible/Versatile., • Positive attitude., • Attention to detail, perform duties with high level of accuracy., • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills., • Teachable and coachable., • Team-player attitude, focusing on success of the entire NCF mission., • Strategic planning and budgeting skills., • Self-motivated., • Strong work ethic and productive., • Ability to tackle challenging tasks., • Builds relationships - individually, within the CGS business unit, and within the entire NCF organization., • Customer focus - anticipate and meet customer needs.
