Position Summary: The Director of Clinical Business Development is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving revenue, growth, innovation, and operational excellence across Sonoran University’s clinical services, including the Medical Center and Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine. With over 12,000 annual patient visits, this role bridges business strategy with clinical operations, ensuring sustainable expansion, financial health, and alignment with patient care standards and educational goals. This hands-on role requires daily campus presence and active collaboration with clinical and administrative leaders, including Development, Marketing, Clinical Education, and Medicinary. The Director provides mentorship and strategic direction to the Clinical Care Manager, ensuring alignment between frontline operations and broader institutional objectives. Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Growth & Market Expansion • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to expand clinical services, increase patient volume, and enhance service offerings., • Review financial performance and identify creative opportunities to increase revenue, including service diversification, pricing strategies, and operational efficiencies., • Collaborate with Finance and Chief Medical Officer to ensure growth initiatives are financially sustainable and aligned with institutional goals., • Partner with Marketing to develop cohesive marketing and branding strategies that elevate visibility of Sonoran’s clinical spaces and position them as go-to resources in the naturopathic health market., • Identify and cultivate new market opportunities, referral networks, and strategic partnerships., • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform service development and positioning., • Collaborate with academic leadership to align clinical growth with educational programming and student training needs. 2. Leadership & Mentorship • Provide direct oversight and mentorship to Clinical Care Manager and other operational staff, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and service standards., • Support team development through coaching, performance feedback, and succession planning., • Ensure operational staff are equipped to manage workflows, improve patient experience, and drive financial performance., • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all clinical entities., • Develop strong, trust-based partnerships with physicians to co-create business strategies, elevate the clinics’ reputation, and position them as leaders in the naturopathic space., • Encourage physician ownership in service line development, innovation, and branding efforts., • Create structured opportunities for physicians to contribute ideas, lead initiatives, and represent the clinics in professional and community settings., • Collaborate with physicians to build name recognition and thought leadership that reinforces Sonoran’s identity as a premier destination for naturopathic care.3. Operational Integration & Performance Optimization, • Align business initiatives with care delivery models and operational workflows., • Monitor and analyze performance metrics (e.g., provider utilization, patient retention, wait times) to guide strategic decisions., • Partner with Clinical Care Manager to resolve operational bottlenecks and improve clinic efficiency., • Ensure EMR and data systems are leveraged to support clinical decisions, staffing models, and performance tracking.4. Financial Oversight & Sustainability, • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for new initiatives and service expansions., • Collaborate with Finance to manage budgets, forecast revenue, and oversee physician compensation models., • Monitor key financial indicators such as billing turnaround times, collections, denial rates, and payer mix., • Implement best practices in price transparency and payment communication to enhance patient trust and reduce billing friction., • Ensure compliance with reimbursement policies, regulatory standards, and internal audit requirements.5. Relationship Management & Outreach, • Build and maintain strong relationships with University leadership, staff physicians and community stakeholders., • Partner with Development, Marketing, Clinical Education, and Medicinary to ensure cohesive messaging, strategic alignment, and integrated outreach efforts that elevate the clinics’ presence and reputation., • Represent clinical services in strategic planning meetings, community events, and partnership discussions., • Support the creation of branded experiences that position Sonoran’s clinical spaces as trusted, go-to resources in the naturopathic health market.Qualifications:, • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, or related field (Bachelor’s degree with significant experience may be considered)., • Minimum 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare business development, clinical operations, or strategic planning., • Proven success in mentoring operational leaders, managing cross-functional teams, and driving organizational growth., • Deep understanding of outpatient clinical operations, reimbursement models, and regulatory environments., • Advanced proficiency in EMR systems, CRM platforms, and data analytics tools., • Demonstrated ability to translate data into strategic insights that inform staffing, scheduling, and performance optimization., • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with experience engaging executive leadership and external partners., • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and ROI analysis.Working Conditions, • Office and clinical setting with extended periods of sitting, computer use, and moderate walking., • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
