Job Description Electrical Maintenance Mechanic (Electrician) Reports to: Engineering Supervisor Department: Engineering Date: September 2025 Shift Available: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm Starting salary: $75,000 to $100,000 (licensed) Job Summary: Responsible for performing various preventive maintenance functions related to electrical systems in a manner consistent with all applicable safety procedures and policies. Essential Job Responsibilities: • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on all building electrical systems., • Conducts periodic, general preventative maintenance on all electrical systems., • Normal lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, replacement of consumable parts (such as filters, indicator lights, etc.), • Periodic testing of the equipment air handling units (including both rooftop and built-up units), re-circulation air systems, water pumping systems and cooling plant., • Replacement of various light bulbs and maintenance of light fixtures including ballast replacement., • Replace and maintain light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, indicator lights, and consumable parts., • Support general building maintenance tasks as required., • Respond promptly to tenant and staff work orders, particularly those related to safety, electrical, and environmental needs., • Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and records., • Perform installations, upgrades, and construction-related electrical work as assigned., • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment daily., • Participate in continuing education, in-house training sessions, and safety programs as directed. Experience and Education Requirements * Licensed Electrician in New York City (preferred; required for upper salary range). * High school diploma or equivalent. * 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in institutional, historic, or large-scale facilities. * Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, life safety, and security systems. * Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and work order software systems. * Fire and safety prevention certifications and all other federally, state, and locally required credentials. * Knowledge of structural methods and construction procedures. * Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend, and work in confined spaces., • Comfortable working at heights and in varying conditions within a large, historic building.
