Job Description OPEN POSITIONS: Piano / Voice Instructor - 2 Days per Week Guitar / Fret Instructor - 1 or 2 Days per Week STUDIO HOURS: • Monday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm (available for both positions), • Wednesday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm (available for piano/voice), • Thursday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm (available for both positions), • Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm (available for piano/voice) COMPENSATION: • $25 per Hour, • Full Training Provided, • 1099 Position LOCATION: • Chicago, Illinois, • North Mayfair Neighborhood, • 4900 W Elston Ave ORGANIZATION PROFILE: UpBeat Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2013 to help youth reach their fullest potential through music and the arts. UpBeat currently employs 17 instructors and is excited to welcome more teachers to their team! POSITION DESCRIPTION: We are currently seeking two music instructors for UpBeat Music & Arts. One instructor will focus on piano / voice lessons and one instructor will focus on guitar / fret lessons. If either instructor is interested in other instruments, as well, the studio would make every effort to provide an additional small student base, if possible. The piano/voice instructor will work with youth ages 5 to 17; the guitar/fret instructor will work with youth ages 6 to young adult. Nearly all lessons are in-person at the UpBeat studio on North Elston Avenue, with virtual lessons offered in special circumstances. Overall duties include: • teach 30-minute individual lessons to beginner and intermediate students, • teach 45-minute individual lessons to advanced students, • teach theory, technique, performance, and composition, • teach in group settings when needed, • utilize exercises and games to help motivate students to learn, • conduct formal and informal ongoing assessments of student achievements, • plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, • assist in creating, organizing, and managing games, recreation, and team-building exercises, • help to coordinate and support program activities, • contribute towards organizing activities, curriculum design, and student/parent feedback, • help to apply and enforce student discipline when necessary This is an exciting opportunity for a talented musician to make a difference in the lives of youth through music and the arts. No teaching experience is required; full training will be provided.
