Mount Sinai Hospital has a companion unit where women and their newborns spend the first few days recovering from the birth and learning how to care for themselves and their newborn infants. With 31 postpartum rooms, we are able to provide a quiet environment for our mother baby couplets and their significant other for a 24 hour rooming-in experience. Our nurses are highly skilled in the medical and nursing care that is required for our patients as well as being able to provide highly interactive education for our families. Our lactation consultants are available to provide high-level breastfeeding support as they help lead the way in our Baby-Friendly Hospital designation journey. We also provide high-risk medical management and nursing support for pregnant women in our unit and the competent care needed for our antepartum patients who may have problem pregnancies of any gestational age. Along with our social workers and chaplain, we are able to provide a variety of services that support the complex needs of our families. Our newborn nursery is only a way-station for most of our newborns who pass through quickly after birth. But for babies who need continuing medical care, our nurses are skilled in caring for these babies and providing support for their families. A team of obstetricians, pediatricians and neonatologists are available 24/7 to work closely with our caregivers and our families. We have such a close bond with our families and we often enjoy visits from them as their children grow and as their mothers return in later years to have more babies with us. Your Role We're looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Lead Guide (Teacher) to support a mixed-age class of toddler age children in a Montessori environment. Job DescriptionTeacher Qualifications 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college or University of which 6 semesters or nine quarter hours are in and/or related to early childhood education. OR One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credits from an accredited college with 6 semesters or 9 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and /or child development from birth to age 6. Must meet all requirements for DCFS Must have patience with children and desire to want to work with them. Employees must be a loving, caring, sensitive and friendly individual towards children.
