Job Description Make the Road States (MRstates) is the national home for the second-generation Make the Road family of organizations in Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Nevada, this in addition to New York, that serves to uplift the voices of working-class, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA people, and people of color across the Make the Roads umbrella. From an operational spectrum it serves as the Finance and Human Resources Compliance Officers for the umbrella at large. Make the Road Connecticut (MRCT) is a statewide organization that builds the power of immigrants and low-income Latinx in Hartford and Bridgeport to achieve dignity and justice. We do this through community organizing, survival services, transformative education, and policy innovation. We tackle the issues that directly impact our communities of color: immigration reform, economic justice, education equity, womxn’s justice and youth justice. Make the Road Connecticut is a project of Make the Road States Inc. Make the Road States Inc. is a tax exempt 501c3. Current Opening: The Operations Associate partners with the Development, Organizing and Senior teams to ensure our Bridgeport office is a well-run and welcoming space where our staff and community members can work, meet, and brainstorm campaigns for social change. The Operations and Associate is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MRCT Bridgeport office. Critical responsibilities include performing administrative tasks, coordinating event logistics, data and technology support, and managing the office’s rental spaces. The Operations Associate will report to the Deputy Director. This is a part-time 20 hours a week position. Key Responsibilities but not limited to: • Event Planning and Execution, • Office Administration and Oversight, • Oversee facility operations management of Bridgeport office, • Manage the office rental spaces, including the shared calendar, and collecting and maintaining contracts for rental spaces, • Track and reconcile invoices, expenses, and payments, maintaining accurate and timely financial records for organizational and committee budgets, • Support development and organizing teams to maintain and monitor members’ monthly dues collections procedures, • Develop and maintain a list of vendors, communicate with vendors as needed and track services, contracts and payments to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the offices, • Assist with operations projects, such as building acquisitions and potential renovations, lease negotiations and rentals, • Ensure office supplies, technology and equipment is up to date and organized, • Eligible to work in the US, • A demonstrated commitment to social justice and an understanding of challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-and moderate-income families., • Equity and inclusion commitment and skills: Motivated by MRCT’s mission and racial, economic, and immigrant justice. Ability to connect with our staff and members, across lines of difference, and center those most impacted by our issues; actively works to maximize equitability in decisions, policies, and processes., • Bilingual: English-Spanish (written and spoken) is required;, • At least 2 years of experience in office administration, operations, or event planning;, • Experience in ADP, Emburse Enterprise, EveryAction and Box preferred;, • Driver’s license and vehicle is required, • • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail, • A high level of self-motivation and a proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, • Ability to manage work in a fast-paced environment at a growing organization., • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and complete assignments under strict deadlines.
