Job Description Associate Attorney Position We are seeking an associate attorney to work in our growing international Trusts and Estates and litigation practice. We have offices in Milford, and Madison, CT and Leon, Spain. The position is located in our headquarters in Milford, CT. The associate will work with the Firm’s founder, Chuck Kurmay, senior associate, Jamie L. Ottaviano, Of Counsel, and EU attorney, Ricardo Franco, retired Probate Judge and Probate Court Administrator, F. Paul Kurmay, and other members of our team. Job Description The candidate will independently manage a caseload of approximately twenty (20) to thirty (30) client files. As some matters deserve the attention of more than one lawyer, he or she should also be able to work collaboratively as part of a team. The candidate will produce high quality work product with strong attention to detail in order to achieve long-term client goals. They should be able to manage their time productively, although support and mentoring is always available, and questions are anticipated. Necessary Requirements The ideal candidate must possess at least three (3) years prior experience handling decedent's estates, strong legal research and brief writing skills. Admission to the Connecticut State Bar is required. Admission to the Connecticut District Court is a plus. Necessary Skills • Excellent written and interpersonal skills;, • The ability to quickly comprehend complex matters and develop strategy accordingly;, • Significant organizational and time management skills including the ability to balance competing priorities;, • The ability to organize and analyze voluminous records and to be able to use them in court proceedings;, • Knowledge and experience in Connecticut Probate administration; and, • Develop individual matters assigned to them from beginning to end in order to achieve a successful result for the client(s);, • Actively participate in client meetings and strategy sessions;, • Prepare for and conduct depositions, motion hearings and trials as necessary; and Is dependent on experience but falls within the range of $75,000-$125,000.00 per year. Work Hours The working hours generally fall in the range of forty (40) to fifty (50) hours per week.
