Job DescriptionDescription: POSITION SUMMARY: Join the YMCA, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As our Family Engagement Coordinator, you’ll bring energy, creativity, and leadership to programs that make families feel genuinely connected to the Y. In this dynamic role, you’ll oversee our vibrant Child Watch program, manage and elevate YMCA Birthday Party experiences, and design fun, engaging programs for youth and families that enhance the member experience. Your week will be a mix of hands-on interaction with children and families, planning and executing exciting events like Kid’s Night Out, and fulfilling essential administrative responsibilities that keep our programs running smoothly. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide excellent customer service to all members, staff, volunteers, and guests by building positive relationships through welcoming engagement and use of names., • Communicate clearly, professionally, and positively using YMCA Listen First principles., • Demonstrate commitment to the YMCA mission, Y competencies, and core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect., • Foster a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants, staff, and families., • Ensure compliance with all YMCA policies and procedures, including Human Resources, Finance, safety, risk management, employee handbook, and emergency response guidelines., • Maintain high standards of program quality and safety in all assigned programs., • Assist with supervising, developing, scheduling, and supporting department staff and volunteer, • Motivate and engage staff and volunteers through regular meetings and in-service training to support retention and mission alignment., • Work hands-on in programming for all scheduled shifts, including leading activities when coverage is unavailable., • Collaborate with other directors and departments to support YMCA programs and operations., • Participate in management meetings, YMCA trainings, and association activities as assigned., • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing family events, birthday parties, and special programs., • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: • Excellent oral and written communication skills with all ages, • Interpersonal & coaching skills, • Supervisory Experience a plus, • CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days., • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations, • 18 Years of Age or Older, • College credits toward Human Services, Recreation, Physical Education or related fields and/or 1 year related experience, • Ability to work with children and to supervise others, • Knowledge of teambuilding, non-competitive and competitive games, youth programs, • Ability for a flexible schedule, • If applicable, will certify in: Babysitter instructor training, Red Cross CPR/First Aid and medication/Epi-pen training, • Experience with Microsoft Office WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. YMCA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: CPR & First Aid – Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives. Emergency Response – Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures. Incident Management – Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors. Safe Environment – Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants. Physical Readiness – Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
