For more information, please visit their website at W-2 Option: Medical/Dental/Vision Coverage Long/Short Term Disability/Life Insurance Paid Federal Holidays, Paid Sick and Paid Vacation time License/Certification Reimbursement 401K Job Duties, the duties include but are not limited to the following: • Provide highly specialized and comprehensive nursing care to a wide variety of patients in the preoperative phase, the immediate post anesthesia period, through the extended post anesthesia period, to discharge. Provide comprehensive preoperative education, initiate nursing data base, identify problems, initiate appropriate consults, and coordinate preoperative arrival time using the operative schedule., • Consistently use the nursing process and advanced assessment skills to identify difficult patient care problems, formulate complex plans to meet the patient’s needs, prevent complications, and to continually revise goals/objectives according to changes in patient status. Maintain accurate, current, and complete administrative/nursing records., • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, other nurses, and ancillary personnel to meet patient needs., • Respond decisively to life-threatening changes in patient condition, provide immediate and appropriate emergency measures according to Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) protocols and assist in the direction and coordination of unit resuscitation efforts., • Operate and monitor the performance of sophisticated equipment used in the care of critically ill patients, including but not limited to mechanical ventilation and invasive and noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring. Interpret and respond to complex technological data generated by such equipment., • Administer a wide variety of rapid-acting, highly potent medications according to unit policies, procedures, and protocols. Use a broad knowledge of drugs and intravenous therapy, including properties, indications, dosage/rate, and side effects. Closely monitor and document patient response and adjust therapy accordingly., • Technically direct and coordinate total patient care with multidisciplinary services by other intra- and inter-departments. Assess and plan for patient admissions for overnight care with Government supervisor. Function as primary liaison/advocate for patients and families, using appropriate intervention techniques., • Perform additional duties within the scope of professional practice including, but not limited to, Standards of Nursing Care, Post Anesthesia Unit and Ambulatory Procedures Unit Policy and Procedures Manuals, and other collateral duties required for efficient quality patient care., • Attend and/or comply with all annual training classes required by the Command, to include but not limited to online annual training provided by the MTF: disaster training, infection control, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire and Safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and all other required training., • Operate and manipulate automated systems such as, Essentris, MHS Genesis and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: • Degree: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing., • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). As an alternative to the education requirements in the basic contract, the HCW may be a graduate of a state accredited professional nursing program OR a program accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)., • Licensure: Current, Full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in anyone (1) of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands., • Experience: Possess a minimum experience of one (1) year within the last two (2) years as an RN working in PACU setting and in a SDSU unit within the last two (2) years., • Certification: Possess and Maintain AHA or ARC: Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), • Security: Must be able to obtain and maintain a government background check and security clearance.
