Job DescriptionDescription: Manthey Hospitality is Tampa Bay’s premier operator of passenger vessels, with a fleet of 14 vessels ranging from upscale dining cruises to water taxis. The fleet includes Yacht Starship Dining Cruises, Craft, Pirate Water Taxi, and Lost Pearl Pirate Adventure Cruises. The Lead Captain will direct and oversee the operation, ensuring brand standards, sales goals, and excellent guest service are met. This team member will assist the General Manager in leading a team of experienced boat captains, deckhands, and maintenance personnel. The Lead/Senior Captain MUST have Helm experience, Inboard Captain experience, light maintenance experience, and must have managed a crew before. Operations are open daily. The ideal candidate in this role works best in a fast-paced environment and has good working knowledge of marine vessels and mechanical systems. Responsibilities • Safety first; ensure all safety/security rules and regulations are followed., • Oversee daily routes and specialty cruises., • Follow and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)., • As directed, update SOPs as needed., • Ensure all cleaning, opening procedures, and closing procedures are conducted and logged by the crew as set forth in the SOP manual., • Ensure all Maintenance Checks are being performed and maintenance items are being reported to Engineering by all crew. Verify documentation and logs., • Basic knowledge of outboard engines, perform maintenance checks on engines (checking oil, fuel levels, checking RACOR filters and draining appropriately, etc.), • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues as needed., • Ability to make basic/minor repairs as needed., • Ensure all Supplies and Tools are on hand for cleaning and maintenance., • Conduct weekly and monthly inventories, • Ensure all Water Taxis are fueled timely for busy periods, prior to weekends and holidays., • Conduct safety meetings and drills on a weekly basis, ensuring all captains and deckhands are trained and competent in the operation and use of all safety equipment on board all vessels. Document and Log., • Responsible for monitoring Captains' licenses/Certificates, COIs, COD’s and all safety equipment for expiration., • Responsible for scheduling Coast Guard (CG) Inspections, along with preparing and managing the water taxis' CG inspections., • Coordinate dry-dock maintenance with the Port Engineer/PWT Manager., • Serve as Manager on Duty in the event of the PWT Manager’s absence., • Support and follow all company policies, procedures, and programs, including Yacht Hospitality System and Safety System., • Conduct Crew 90-day and annual evaluations, in conjunction with the PWT Manager., • All other duties as assigned by management. Requirements:Qualifications • Exhibit leadership and organizational skills in managing the crew and operation., • Maintain a positive, supportive work environment via effective, professional communication with co-workers in all Manthey Hospitality brands., • Provide mentorship to crewmembers. Ability to motivate the crew., • Must have the ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, a non-stable environment (i.e., pitching, heaving, and rolling decks), wet and slippery workspaces, and moving, lifting, and carrying heavy objects., • Integrity and ability to handle information with the utmost confidentiality, in regard to Human Resources matters, and working with our customer and vendor clientele., • Ability to format templates and standardize forms easily in Microsoft Word and Excel., • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products., • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, and percentages., • Must be good at organizing - in the literal sense as well as virtual data., • Thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing daily environment., • Positive and respectful leadership., • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines effectively and multitask., • Clear and effective communicator with all team members, peers, and supervisors., • Be enthusiastic and passionate about the Riverwalk and the Downtown Tampa area., • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed. Experience/ Education • 4 years’ experience in the marine industry., • 100-Ton Captain's License., • 1 year in the Passenger Vessel Industry is preferred, but is not a requirement.
