Job Description Job Title: Paint Line Operator Job Description This role supports the paint production team by performing powder coating applications and assisting with all aspects of the powder line, including masking, hanging, palletizing, and staging. You help maintain consistent production flow, ensure products meet quality standards, and keep equipment and documentation in proper working order. You work under the direction of the Paint Production Lead while contributing to a safe, efficient, and clean production environment. Responsibilities • Perform powder coating applications under the direction of the Paint Production Lead while actively supporting daily powder line operations, including masking, hanging, palletizing, and staging., • Read and interpret customer blueprints to identify and properly mask and plug customer-specified features., • Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and cleaning, to ensure optimal coating adhesion and finish quality., • Use diagnostic equipment correctly to verify coating quality and ensure compliance with specifications., • Remove masking and plugs from production parts exiting the cure oven and verify that parts meet quality requirements., • Hang and remove production parts from the chain line safely and efficiently to maintain production flow., • Inspect painted products for quality, ensuring they meet all customer and internal specifications before release., • Manage inventory of paint, coatings, and related supplies to support uninterrupted production., • Adhere to all safety protocols and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment., • Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free department., • Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with supervisors, leads, and coworkers to coordinate work and resolve issues., • Work overtime when needed to support production demands and customer schedules., • Maintain responsibilities related to the ISO 9001 system in accordance with the Quality Manual and procedure-level documentation., • Participate actively and positively in Lean activities, including process improvement and problem-solving initiatives., • Assist in other manufacturing activities when necessary to support overall production needs., • Maintain your work area in a clean, safe, and organized manner., • Perform other duties as assigned to support the production and paint operations. Essential Skills • Ability to read and interpret customer blueprints to identify masking and plugging requirements., • Ability to properly use diagnostic equipment to verify coating quality., • Experience preparing surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and cleaning., • Ability to inspect painted products and verify that they meet specifications., • Basic computer knowledge to support production documentation and workflow., • Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and accurate masking., • Good verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors, leads, and coworkers., • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a production environment., • Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately and consistently., • Manual dexterity to handle small parts, masking, hanging, and coating tasks safely and efficiently., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis., • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift, twist, kneel, reach above shoulder, climb, drive, and push/pull within the specified frequency and duration requirements., • Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing (with or without corrective aids) sufficient to perform job duties safely and accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications • High school diploma plus relevant vocational training in painting, coatings, or industrial production is beneficial., • Thorough knowledge of various types of paint equipment is a plus., • Experience in production, general labor, or general production environments., • Background in paint preparation, industrial painting, or powder coating operations., • Experience with industrial paint booths, spray guns, sandblasting, and paint prepping., • Familiarity with masking, hanging, palletizing, and staging parts in a production setting., • Strong teamwork mindset, including helping others succeed, communicating clearly and directly, listening well, and encouraging teammates., • Commitment to blameless problem solving and collaborative resolution of issues., • Demonstrated honesty and integrity, including honoring commitments, doing the right thing, and maintaining consistency between attitudes and actions., • Openness to Lean principles, including improving processes, sharing information, teaching others, and exposing issues for improvement., • Numbers-focused mindset, including delivering results, analyzing data for improvement, taking ownership and accountability, and working smarter., • Commitment to excellence, including passion for serving customers, contributing solutions, maintaining a sense of urgency, striving to be the best at your work, and seeking knowledge., • Positive attitude with the ability to celebrate achievements and maintain a sense of fun in the workplace. Work Environment This role is based in a shop and production environment with moderate to high noise levels, including areas that may exceed 85 dB. You work around industrial ovens and other heating equipment that operate continuously, with regular exposure to dusty powder, heat without air conditioning, and cold conditions. The work involves physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, as well as sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching above shoulder, climbing, driving, and pushing or pulling within defined time limits. You work on weekend shifts, with openings across two primary schedules: an AM weekend shift from Friday to Sunday and a PM weekend shift from Friday to Sunday, with the potential to initially work a single 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. shift Friday through Sunday before transitioning to separate AM and PM shifts as the weekend paint line staffing is completed. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, and you follow established safety protocols at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.20/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
