Job Description The Assistant Club Director assists the Executive Director in leading, managing, directing and monitoring overall Club operations including safety, high quality programming, driving optimal club experience and service delivery/outcomes for youth ages 6 to 18. The Assistant Club Director provides a safe, fun learning environment that enables members to grow and develop into responsible adults. The Assistant Club Director assumes responsibility of the club when the Executive Director is away. Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities): • Front-line accountability for quality program delivery including core programs, new initiatives, summer programs, junior staff development program and outcome measurement Systems., • Trains, monitors and develops staff so that programs are well delivered. Responsible for direct supervision of Athletic coordinators, Program Assistants and program volunteers., • Evaluates program activity and impact and ensures programs are reviewed regularly & consistently. Ensures that Action steps are implemented, reviewed & updated regularly and program improvements are made as a regular process., • Assists in planning, developing, evaluating and overseeing implementation of arts, education, social recreation, health and physical education, computer center and specialty programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success., • Monitors program delivery, works with program staff to plan and implement improvements. Communicates with club staff, members and partner agencies to ensure understanding of program opportunities. Schedules and plans program delivery with Contracted Vendors., • Develops Daily/Weekly program schedule and plans implementation with program staff. Promotes and markets programs to club members via meetings, announcements, bulletin boards, flyers, mailing, posted schedules, etc., • Assists in planning, execution, and collection of program data to support measures and report outcomes; prepares programs’ reports, as needed., • Coordinates, with Club Staff special events and field trips, ensures they are properly supervised and releases and other paperwork completed. Helps plan and oversee implementation of opportunities to recognize club members., • Works with the Executive Director during crisis situations and takes action to resolve conflicts, disputes and concerns of staff, club members, volunteers, and parents., • Aligns the club programming strategy to organizational program tracks and training framework., • Assists in the selection of part-time staff to deliver programs identifying training and oversight required for effective program delivery., • Helps evaluate staff’s performance and recommends professional development, promotion, and discipline/discharge., • Provides the guidance necessary to maintain discipline and acceptable behaviors in the Club., • Ingrains the five (5) key elements for positive youth development into the Club’s culture, including safe and positive environment, fun, recognition, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations., • Assesses the needs, interests, and characteristics of the youth to develop targeted programs that result in an outcome-driven club experience., • Champions staff development in social emotional learning and ensure that practices are prioritized in all aspects of Club operations., • Recommends requisition of supplies and equipment and maintains a safe environment., • Assists in the supervision of the care, maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, building, grounds and vehicles., • Oversees the part-time staff by providing support, coaching, feedback, supervision and guidance. Helps facilitate the training-club onboarding for all new hire Program Assistants., • Maintains high performance expectations for all team members that fosters a culture of teamwork, respect, excellence, integrity, and innovation., • Administers CPR & First Aid as necessary. Relationships: • Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) Club members and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel., • External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving challenges. Skills & Knowledge Required: A minimum of two years of direct youth service experience and a demonstrable record of planning and implementing youth programs. Previous experience working with at-risk youth is preferred, as is a background in education. • Bachelor’s degree preferred, Substitute education for experience, Six (6) + years of professional experience in Youth Development, Education, or related field, • Demonstrated ability to creatively plan, coordinate, and evaluate quality youth programs directly and through collaborations. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments/organizations deliver quality programs to club members and potential members., • At least one year of demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience at a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization., • Demonstrated ability to train, orient and recognize staff, volunteers and outside resources., • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, in presentations to an audience, and electronically., • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)., • Strong administrative skills/experience required., • Certificate of first aid and CPR., • Valid Florida driver’s license – must be able to meet insurance requirements., • CDL, Class B Florida license with passenger & air brake endorsements and a safe driving record preferred. (Will be required to obtain license within 6 months to drive on a regular basis), • Ability to distinguish when time to discipline and time to counsel members (good judgment)., • Ability to be creative with programs, members, room decor, etc. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
