SUMMARY: The People & Culture Manager, Benefits is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the organization’s employee benefit programs, ensuring they remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with the company goals. This role will oversee all aspects of benefits administration, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and leave administration. While the primary emphasis is on benefits strategy and operations, this role also supports broader People and Culture initiatives and maintains an understanding of overall functions such as recruitment, compliance, employee relations, and payroll coordination. Responsibilities: (80%) Benefits Administration • Lead and oversee the administration of health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness plans to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of claims and invoices., • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions, offering clear, empathetic, and responsive guidance., • Collaborate with benefit providers and brokers to manage contracts, renewals, claims, and service delivery., • Plan and execute annual open enrollment, including system updates, and employee communication and education sessions., • Ensure all benefits programs comply with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and HIPAA., • Maintain accurate benefit records, prepare and analyze reports related to enrollment, cost and utilization trends., • Develop and deliver communications and training to help employees understand and maximize their benefits., • Oversee leave programs (PFML, FMLA, ADA, etc.), ensuring consistent and compliant application of policies., • Identify opportunities to enhance the employee benefits experience and streamline administrative processes., • Partner with payroll and finance teams to ensure accurate deductions, timely reporting, and alignment with company policies., • Monitor benefits-related expenses, assist in forecasting, and recommend cost-effective plan designs., • Support initiatives that promote employee well-being, work-life balance, and overall satisfaction. (20%) People & Culture Support • Supervise People and Culture Assistant., • Support talent acquisition process; including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants., • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for new hires and exiting employees., • Monitor compliance by maintaining required records, reviewing policies, and ensuring alignment with employment laws and internal standards., • Provide guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures, and best practices., • Support data integrity and reporting within HR systems, including workforce analytics, turnover, and engagement metrics., • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for improving processes, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness., • Assist with employee relations matters, ensuring confidentiality, consistency, and adherence to company values., • Contribute to People and Culture projects and initiatives that promote a supportive and compliant workplace culture., • Other duties as assigned. Required Experience: • Minimum of 5 years experience managing benefits programs and HR functions, • Experience with vendor management, open enrollment, and leave administration., • Experience implementing and managing employee benefits programs and HR functions., • Familiarity with benefit and payroll systems, reporting, and HR analytics., • Experience providing guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies and compliance., • Background in onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes., • Ability and history of delivering excellent customer service and building positive employee experiences., • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and implement process improvements to enhance HR operations., • Experience ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws and organizational policies. Skills/Abilities: • Strong knowledge of health, retirement, and leave programs., • High level of accuracy in benefits administration, reporting, and data management. Understanding of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices, • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse group of employees at all levels in an organization., • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record to build trust and rapport quickly., • Resourceful and proactive in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions., • Works effectively across departments and in conjunction with third party partners to deliver seamless benefit and support., • Strong commitment to supporting employees with empathy, timely communication and professionalism, • Maintains the highest level of discretion in handling sensitive employee information., • Clear, confident, and approachable communicator with the ability to explain complex information in simple terms., • Understands how to balance and align People and Culture initiatives with the day-to-day operations and organizational priorities and goals., • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees., • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
