Job DescriptionDescription: Reports to: Company Manager/General Management Associate Compensation: $15.97 per hour Benefits: Non-Benefits Eligible THE POSITION Child Actor Supervisors are responsible for supervising child actors in rehearsal and performance for the Guthrie’s production of A Christmas Carol. This position oversees all child actor activity and behavior offstage and in the rehearsal and dressing rooms. Child Actor Supervisors ensure all child actors remain safe and focused for their work. All employees are expected to center, model and champion the Guthrie’s core values of Artistic Excellence; Community; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility; and Fiscal Responsibility. The schedule required for this role will be Tuesdays – Sundays from October 7 – December 28, 2025, excluding November 27, December 24 and December 25. Hours will vary depending on the weekly rehearsal and performance schedules, ranging between 25 - 40 hours a week. Child Actor Supervisors must be consistently available to work Tuesday – Friday evenings and Saturday – Sunday daytime and evening hours. Occasional weekday daytime hours are required for tech rehearsals and matinee performances. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Child Actor Supervision • Supervise child actors per Actors Equity Association regulations., • Meet child actors before their call time and escort them to rehearsal and/or dressing rooms once in performance., • Lead and maintain daily warm-ups prior to rehearsal and performance., • Help child actors stay focused and attentive during rehearsal, following the directions as given by the Stage Manager and elevating issues as necessary., • Accompany child actors to their entrances and pick them up at exits as required., • Manage and support child actors to promote a safe, healthy, and productive working environment., • Foster a work environment of Artistic Excellence; Community; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility; and Fiscal Responsibility. 2. Administration • Keep track of each child’s entrances, exits, props, and costume changes., • Work with stage management to develop and manage child actor Run Sheets., • Demonstrated experience working with children required., • Basic knowledge of theater terminology and stage directions., • Experience in theater preferred, and knowledge of theater games and warm-ups is desirable., • Effective oral and written communication on an interpersonal and group level., • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail., • Experience working with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel., • Can repeatedly move up and down flights of stairs in various areas of the theater, including in low light conditions and during emergencies., • Can lift/move/carry a minimum of 25 lbs., read in low light conditions, twist and bend frequently, pick up items from the floor, and stand for long periods of time regularly throughout a work shift., • Must be willing to work flexible hours/days, including evenings and weekends, reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater. Must be available Tuesdays – Sundays from October 7 – December 28, 2025, excluding November 27, December 24 and December 25.
