The role- and who it's for You're not waiting for opportunities to find you. You go create them. Maybe you're a Realtor who is tired of living transaction to transaction. Maybe you love real estate but want more stability, better mentorship, and the chance to help build something from the ground up. As our Director of Relationships & Growth, you'll be the chief connector of PMI Angel City. Your responsibility: consistently generating new property management contracts — "doors" — by building relationships, expanding our local network, and actively finding opportunity in the community. It's a high-activity, relationship-driven sales role, and you'll be engaging with people every day, in person and digitally. That's exactly why you'll love it. You're great with people — the one who leaves a dinner party with three new friends and a coffee already scheduled. You're comfortable commanding a room, giving a presentation, or picking up the phone and talking to a stranger. You know people do business with people they know, like, and trust — and you want to spend your days networking, prospecting, presenting, and asking for business. Your superpower: you're highly organized and self-directed, and you do your best work with freedom and flexibility, building your own days around the people and opportunities that matter. In return, we'll give you every tool you need to succeed, be the kind and ethical people you actually want to work with, back you with real support, and keep each other accountable along the way. You'll build this with us and grow as we grow — and every door you sign, we'll be celebrating right beside you. About PMI Angel City PMI Angel City is a woman-owned, boutique property management and real estate company serving Los Angeles. We started this company because we believed property management could — and should — be done differently. Too many property owners have come to expect slow communication, hidden fees, poor follow-through, and the feeling that once they signed the agreement, they became just another number. That's not how we do business. We're intentionally small, high-touch, and relationship-driven. Our clients hire us because they want someone who answers the phone, communicates proactively, solves problems before they become emergencies, and genuinely cares for one of their biggest investments. Six written guarantees back everything we do. We don't try to be the biggest property management company in Los Angeles. We want to be one of the best. We manage single-family homes, condos, and small multifamily buildings across LA, and we're part of the PMI national network of 700+ offices — serious training and tools behind a local, personal company. That culture is what you'd be representing every time you walk into a room. What your week looks like • Building relationships: you'll spend much of your time meeting people throughout the Los Angeles real estate community — weekly BNI or similar meetings, REIA and investor meetups, Chamber events, Realtor offices, coffee meetings, lunches, or simply reaching out to someone you've been meaning to reconnect with. You'll build relationships with Realtors, investors, lenders, attorneys, business managers, insurance professionals, and contractors — the people who naturally cross paths with rental property owners every day. Your goal isn't to collect business cards. Your goal is to become the person they think of when someone needs a property manager., • Finding new business: not every opportunity comes to you — you'll proactively create them. That means calling landlords, reaching out to investors, following up with old leads, connecting with "For Rent by Owner" listings, asking for introductions, and reviving conversations that went cold. We'll provide warm leads, referrals, and introductions. We also expect you to create opportunities of your own., • Meeting property owners: when someone is interested, you'll guide them through the process — meet them, learn their goals, answer questions, walk properties, explain how we work, handle objections honestly, and ask for the business when the time is right. You're never expected to oversell or overpromise. Your job is to help people make a good decision — not pressure them into one., • A thoughtful handoff: when a new owner signs, you complete a detailed intake and personally introduce them to the business owners or their property manager — so what you promised is exactly what they experience., • CRM discipline: every contact, call, and conversation logged in LeadSimple, every follow-up scheduled. What we offer • Real compensation: A competitive base + commission for every door you sign, uncapped., • Autonomy + Independence: work from home, set your own hours, build your week around the meetings and events that matter. Success requires full-time work but we measure results, not hours at a desk., • Warm leads from day one: website inquiries, owner referrals, and marketing campaigns feed your pipeline — you won’t start from zero., • Training, community technology and tools: PMI Grow (a 20-module sales program), weekly BDM Exchange calls, the national BDM Forum, and a team pod of peers doing this exact job in other markets., • Real mentorship: a standing weekly one-on-one with the owners where we review every lead together, work your pipeline alongside you, open our own networks, and celebrate every door signed., • Room to grow: you’ll be our first growth hire, not employee #400. The person who builds this portfolio grows with it — in income, in title, and in what comes next., • Flexibility: Because you’re licensed, there’s also the option to occasionally represent your own buyers and sellers through our brokerage at a competitive split — a nice perk. Who will thrive in this role • Comfortable selling: let's be direct — this is a sales role. You are comfortable picking up the phone, speaking to strangers, giving presentations, handling objections, and asking for business., • A connector: you're social by nature and competitive by instinct — you love meeting new people and you're at ease networking in any room. Maybe you already have deep connections in LA real estate — even better., • Flexible by design: networking doesn't keep office hours. Your schedule flexes to the opportunity — a breakfast meeting in Pasadena, lunch in Sherman Oaks, an evening mixer across town — and you like it that way., • Disciplined: you can manage your own time and follow up relentlessly without being micromanaged., • Real estate knowledge: you've got practical knowledge of real estate, leasing, or property management — you speak the language., • Tech savvy: you are comfortable using CRMs, Google Workspace, and mobile apps to run your day., • Bonus: you know LA — or a few corners of it deeply — and can talk neighborhoods, rents, and what it actually means to own rental property here. The practical details • Active California real estate license required., • Independent contractor (1099) affiliated with our brokerage — you’ll use your own computer, phone, and car, and manage your own schedule., • Local, remote and “out in the community” role: Los Angeles, the Westside, the Valley, and the Pasadena area. Reliable transportation required., • Requires a self-directed, flexible schedule: networking events can run early and late — 7 a.m. BNI breakfasts, evening mixers, and everything in between. You'll build your week around them., • Once you’re trained and ramped, the expectation is an average of 4-6 + doors per month, market conditions permitting — and everything about the role is built to make that achievable. How to apply Email your resume to hello@pmiangelcity.com with a short note — a few paragraphs, in your own voice — that tells us two things: • About you. What draws you to this role, and what would we be lucky to get if you joined us?, • Your story with sales + real estate. Give us the quick version of your real estate and sales experience — then tell us the more interesting part. Why sales? Some people can hear "no" ten times before lunch and still make the eleventh call, or walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with three new friends. If that's you, where did you learn it? PMI Angel City is an equal opportunity company. We welcome applicants of every background and make all engagement decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status.
