Job DescriptionSalary: Job Title: Athletics Director Located in Loudoun County, Community Church exists to love people the same way God loves us. We see our graduates making a positive impact in every arena of life. Today, Virginia Academy hosts 1000+ students on its 46 acre campus including a brand new, 62,000 sq/ft extension that holds new science labs, art studio, library, and gymnasium. The Virginia AcademyAthletics Director, in addition to building a strong athletic program where Christ is exemplified and glorified, will support student enrollment, retention, and fundraising. He/she will help to secure Virginia Academys legitimacy as a serious option for all students in Loudoun County who desire a quality faith-based education with opportunities to participate in a quality athletic program.The ideal candidate will be a high-capacity visionary and a practicing Christian who supports the schools values. The Athletics Director collaborates with the Enrollment Management Director, Upper School Principal, Campus Pastor, and teachers for student recruitment, enrollment, performance, and retention. This position reports directly to the Head of School. Key Responsibilities Culture • Inspire a Christian mindset, heart, and culture that will permeate our athletic department and impact our student athletes according to our mission and values (Passionate Christians, Fierce Competitors, & Caring Teammates)., • Instill a culture of academic excellence among coaches and student athletes by working alongside the Upper School leadership team and teachers., • Attend regular meetings, school events and activities as directed. Professional Growth and Learning • Attend Staff Chapel, • Attend orientation, Team Nights, and other meetings as needed., • Represent the school at athletic meetings/games when assigned and maintain a thorough knowledge of the game rules and association regulations., • Set and meet yearly goals demonstrating personal and professional growth; achieving the required total of yearly continuing education credits. Organizational Management • Oversee game schedules, transportation, referees, etc. for all athletic contests, making necessary adjustments for cancellations and rescheduling., • Oversee the athletic class pages on MyVAA and ensure consistent of communication for each sport including practice schedules, games, parent communication, and overall organization, • Review and approve all requisition requests for all athletic equipment, supplies, uniforms, etc.; keep on file a complete financial record of receipts and expenditures., • Establish and monitor procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities, with proper attention to an overall, over-the-top, excellent environment., • Prepare a budget each year to cover the required expenditures necessary to conduct the total interscholastic athletic program for upper school. Planning and Progress • Lead, plan, implement, and promote a dynamic interscholastic athletic program for students consistent with the vision and mission of the school., • Oversee and distribute student progress reports to coaches in alignment with the Upper School Academic Program policies and procedures, • Collaborate with the School Leadership Team regularly for feedback, problem solving, and strategic development as it relates to the Athletics Department. Professional Qualities and Leadership • Lead both full, part-time, and coaching/volunteer staff including shared responsibility for hiring, training, disciplining, or termination decisions and full responsibility for mentoring and evaluating coaches and athletic staff., • Hold 1:1 meetings with your direct reports for communication, development, collaboration, and synergy., • Ensure compliance with all state, divisional and school athletics regulations and policy., • Guide student athletes through the college recruitment process. Stakeholder Support and Engagement • Communicate efficiently and proactively with parents, students, coaches, league/conferences., • Enhance Virginia Academys athletics support infrastructure., • Ensure the preparation of press releases and the arrangement of media coverage for athletic events, and ensure that the appropriate media is informed of the results of all athletic events., • Support fundraising and sponsorship efforts related to the school and athletics program., • Address student-athlete and parent concerns in a professional, empathetic, and responsive manner. Education: Required Bachelors degree from an accredited, four-year institution required Desired Masters degree from an accredited, four-year institution Understanding of the college recruitment process Experience: Required Active church member at Community Church or willingness to become an active member at Community Church Experience in Administration and Coaching Excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, parents, and colleagues Knowledge of multiple sports Experience managing multiple athletic programs involving middle and/or high school students Experience setting and managing yearly budgets Ability to utilize school database system Desired Experience hiring and overseeing coaches of various sports Experience working within a Christian School and/or ministry Knowledge and connections with other coaches, private schools and/or other athletic programs Experience working in a private school setting Knowledge of NCAA recruiting process and clearinghouse guidelines Experience managing teams within an athletic association The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position and should not be considered a contract of employment.
