Position Summary: The Intensive Outpatient Therapist is a licensed behavioral health professional responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based clinical services to adults diagnosed with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. As a core member of Damien Center’s CARE Program, this role supports efforts to reduce HIV transmission by addressing substance use among high-risk populations. The IOP Therapist facilitates structured group therapy sessions, conducts comprehensive assessments, and provides individual and family therapy as clinically indicated. This role requires strong clinical judgment, cultural competency, and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team. The therapist ensures compliance with all regulatory standards, including DMHA and SAMHSA guidelines, and contributes to program development, client engagement, and continuous quality improvement. Duties and Responsibilities: This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. It should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all required duties, responsibilities, and skills. • Facilitate group therapy sessions for cohorts of up to 12 clients enrolled in IOP, using evidence-based approaches to address substance use and co-occurring disorders., • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and determine appropriate level of care using ASAM criteria; develop individualized treatment plans and discharge plans., • Provide individual and family therapy as clinically indicated, incorporating trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and harm reduction approaches., • Deliver psychoeducation on addiction, recovery, HIV prevention, and mental health to clients and their families., • Engage family members in treatment planning and therapeutic interventions to support recovery and improve outcomes., • Maintain accurate, timely, and HIPAA-compliant documentation in the electronic health record (eCW), including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries., • Ensure all clinical documentation meets standards set by SAMHSA, DMHA, and other regulatory bodies., • Track and monitor client progress, attendance, and engagement in IOP services; complete required reporting for grant compliance., • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings, presenting client information and recommending effective interventions., • Collaborate with peer recovery coaches, medical providers, case managers, and other Damien Center staff to coordinate care and support client needs., • Assist with the collection and documentation of urine drug screens for IOP participants, interpreting results and integrating findings into treatment planning., • Support client retention and engagement through motivational interviewing, strengths-based approaches, and individualized care strategies., • Make referrals to internal and external services when higher levels of care or additional support are needed., • Participate in regular clinical supervision as required by licensure and organizational policy., • Complete a minimum of 20 continuing education hours annually, with a focus on substance use treatment, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency., • Contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives by providing feedback on service delivery, client outcomes, and operational processes., • Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, boundaries, and professional integrity., • Adhere to Damien Center policies and procedures, including HIPAA protections and client rights., • Uphold standards of care set forth by DMHA, SAMHSA, and other accrediting bodies., • Provide services in-person with occasional telehealth sessions based on client needs and clinical appropriateness., • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field required., • Active and unrestricted Indiana clinical licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT) required., • Minimum of one year experience working with people with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders required., • Experience working in an Intensive Outpatient Program preferred., • Knowledge of LGBTQ+ culture and societal/family challenges is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possess superior organizational and administrative skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to work independently and achieve high standards of productivity, achieving deadlines and with superior product results. Strong calendaring, organizational, and document management skills required. Proactive approach to solving problems and communicating to leadership. Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and office equipment required. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
