Role Description The Program Manager leads the day-to-day implementation of TRC’s Youth Leadership Programs and executes student recruitment to ensure strong, equitable participation pipelines. This role focuses on direct engagement with youth while managing the operational, administrative, and logistical components that make programming successful. The Program Manager collaborates with the Director of Youth Programs (DYP) to carry out on-the-ground outreach, interest cultivation, and conversion from recruitment to program completion. The Program Manager works closely with the DYP and TRC leadership to ensure programs are impactful, well-organized, and aligned with TRC’s mission. By providing mentorship, facilitating leadership development, coordinating youth-led projects, and maintaining a robust recruitment funnel, this position plays a critical role in empowering youth to drive change in their communities. Key Responsibilities: 1.Program Implementation and Management (40%) • Oversee day-to-day implementation of Youth Fellowship programming during the Summer and academic school year, including scheduling, curriculum coordination, communication, and activity logistics., • Monitor participant attendance, engagement, and progress; implement proactive intervention strategies for youth at risk of disengagement alongside DYP., • Facilitate or co-facilitate programming as needed, including workshops, cohort sessions, off-site experiential learning opportunities, and leadership activities., • Ensure programs are delivered in alignment with organizational standards, grant requirements, and best practices in youth development., • Provide direct mentorship to youth participants, supporting them in achieving personal and leadership goals through occasional 1:1 support, resource sharing, and supporting individual needs., • Facilitate and support any youth-led action projects focused on community issues., • Foster an environment where youth build confidence, practice decision-making, and contribute to TRC’s mission through youth-led initiatives. 2.Student Recruitment & Outreach (30%) • Manage the full application and enrollment process, including application review, eligibility screening, participant selection, and acceptance communications., • Coordinate onboarding logistics, including orientations, family engagement sessions, documentation collection, and participant agreements., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records and enrollment data in the program management system., • Cultivate and manage programmatic relationships with youth-serving partners, employers, WCPSS/educational institutions, and community stakeholders., • Manage joint collaborative efforts with community partners in curriculum building, workshop development, program implementation & management, and as needed in other roles and responsibilities., • Manage registration and day-to-day program logistics (scheduling, high school stipends, youth communication platforms), ensuring smooth handoff from recruitment to enrollment., • Support youth fellows and Program Coordinators to ensure smooth program delivery and quality outcomes., • Collect and organize program feedback, attendance data, and success stories to inform continuous improvement., • Prepare program updates and impact summaries for the Director of Youth Programs and other TRC leadership., • Collaborate with the Director of Youth Programs to develop systems for tracking and measuring program outcomes., • Collect and analyze youth feedback, attendance, performance data, and recruitment funnel metrics to assess effectiveness and equity., • Contribute to reports, success stories, and presentations for funders, partners, and TRC leadership., • Manage TRC’s blog, newsletters, and social media to highlight youth voices and program milestones. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent lived and professional experience)., • Minimum 2-4 years of progressive experience in youth program management, with demonstrated responsibility for program outcomes., • Proven track record managing recruitment, enrollment, and retention in a youth-serving or fellowship program context., • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to diverse audiences, including youth, families, and funders., • Proficiency in data management, reporting, and program evaluation., • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth-centered program design. Working Conditions: • Full-time position based in Downtown Raleigh, with some flexibility for remote work., • Regular evening and some weekend work for community events, conferences, meetings, or advocacy efforts., • Some local travel may be required to attend community meetings or partner events. Physical Requirements: • Constant use of manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills., • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures., • Ability to reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push and pull., • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds., • Ability to perform repetitive movements including simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation. Salary and Benefits: The salary range is mid-50k.
