Job Description Job Title: Construction Laborer / Cleaning Technician Job Description This role supports a large-scale construction project in Apex, NC by performing a wide range of physical construction and site support tasks. You will help set up and maintain temporary structures, keep the jobsite clean and organized, assist various trades, and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. This is a long-term opportunity on a project expected to last more than two years. Responsibilities • Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction project jobsites, both indoors and outdoors., • Review jobsite needs with supervisors and superintendents to fully understand scopes of work based on plans and specifications before starting assignments., • Assist with jobsite clean-up, including debris removal, construction waste handling, and end-of-day clean-up activities., • Support rough carpentry tasks such as basic framing, decking, and platform building as directed., • Assist with site logistics, including fencing installation, protection systems, and maintaining clear access routes., • Set up, maintain, and remove temporary structures, signage, and other general construction requirements on the jobsite., • Perform pressure washing and general cleaning of the jobsite to maintain a safe and orderly work environment., • Inventory supplies regularly and provide accurate supply orders to supervisors to ensure materials are restocked in a timely manner., • Help ensure trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors follow jobsite standards, safety codes, and regulations., • Demonstrate teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations and interactions on site., • Read and follow work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers., • Inspect tools and equipment before use to confirm they are in safe and proper working condition., • Participate in daily pre-task planning meetings and follow safety expectations for the operation of equipment and tools., • Select appropriate tools and equipment for each task and adhere to all safety protocols while performing work., • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times as required by site safety procedures., • Perform selected demolition activities as directed, using hand and power tools safely and efficiently., • Participate in and coordinate activities with subcontractors and suppliers to support smooth project execution., • Inspect the project perimeter daily for security and cleanliness and address any issues identified., • Perform fire watch duties as needed to support hot work and other activities requiring monitoring., • Construct and assist with scaffolding as needed, following safety guidelines and instructions., • Manage dumpster vendor schedules and maintain dumpster areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition., • Act as a spotter for heavy equipment operators to help maintain safe operations around machinery., • Ensure the security of tools, equipment, and the work area during and after operations., • Identify, communicate, and escalate problems or issues to a supervisor for timely resolution., • Track production and completion of assigned tasks and report progress as required., • Assist other craft workers in their trades as directed to support overall project needs., • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and fellow employees., • Perform other related activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by site leadership. Essential Skills • At least 6+ months of construction experience in a commercial or industrial environment., • Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on feet for extended periods., • Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately for construction tasks., • Experience using common hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and related equipment., • Experience using power tools safely, including drills, saws, and other construction-related equipment., • Basic carpentry skills to assist with rough carpentry, decking, platforms, and temporary structures., • Experience working with concrete or supporting concrete-related tasks on construction sites., • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, project signage, and safety guidelines., • Commitment to following safety protocols, including participation in pre-task planning and consistent use of PPE., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain positive working relationships on site., • Reliability and strong work ethic, including punctuality and consistent performance of assigned duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience on large-scale construction projects or data center projects., • Familiarity with site logistics, fencing, and protection systems on active jobsites., • Experience with demolition work using hand and power tools., • Experience constructing or working on scaffolding in accordance with safety standards., • Prior experience performing fire watch duties on construction sites., • Experience acting as a spotter for heavy equipment operators., • Basic understanding of construction waste management and dumpster coordination., • Comfort working under the direction of multiple supervisors and adapting to changing priorities., • Strong communication skills to report issues, progress, and safety concerns promptly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Apex, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
