Job Description Job Title: School Nutrition Assistant Department: School Nutrition Program Schedule: Full-Time / Part-Time (based on school needs) Reports To: School Nutrition Manager / Manager Trainee General Summary The School Nutrition Assistant supports the daily operations of the school cafeteria by performing duties related to food preparation, safety and sanitation, customer service, cashiering, and program compliance. This role is essential in providing students with nutritious meals in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines. The position works under the supervision of the School Nutrition Manager or Manager Trainee and collaborates with the school nutrition team to ensure a positive and efficient dining environment. Key Responsibilities Food Production • Prepare and serve food according to standardized recipes and production records., • Maintain high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation., • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment at all times., • Follow required food handling, storage, and labeling procedures., • Accurately manage point-of-sale transactions during meal service., • Follow approved money-handling procedures and complete drawer logs., • Maintain accurate documentation required for federal meal programs., • Comply with all district, school, and School Nutrition Program policies., • Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to training., • Demonstrate a positive attitude and work collaboratively with team members., • Communicate effectively with the School Nutrition Manager and coworkers., • Uphold ethical work practices and support a welcoming school environment. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED preferred., • Previous food service experience preferred (training will be provided)., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions., • Ability to learn and operate POS systems for cashiering., • Able to work independently and manage assigned tasks within time limits.
